TESU degree requirements help based on current catalog
#11
@evenFair23, Yes, that is a 'thing' in all the degrees they have for the BA, such as their BALS and more. Why would you take the Study.com Comp Sci 305 Operating Systems when you can take the easier Comp Sci 105... Both of these come in as COS-240 Operating Systems at TESU. Thus, you now have your answer... go get the Comp Sci 105 done at Study.com for the win!

Any experience similar to mine? What would you do if were in my shoes?

I have not seen that as a limit on the CS degree; I have seen it on things like the BALS.  The key is, what did TESU bring your courses in as?  Because it's what THEY consider a course, and give it an equivalency for, that makes the difference (not what your school may have considered it).

You need to list all of the courses you've taken that TESU brought into the AOS, and tell us what equivalency they gave it; and then list any courses they did not accept, and what the equivalencies were.  Then we can help more.

Intro Operating Systems came in as TESU # CAP-1700. It is in 'Other Courses' section below. They did not accept it for E: Operating Systs section below.
Reason advisor gave me was: I have exceeded my 100 level transfer course limit.

They did not accept my RA 100 level Intro to Operating Sys course, I wonder if they would accept SDC Comp Sci 105, which is a 100 level course as well.
That is why I was considering SDC Comp Sci 305 to meet TESU Operating Sys requirement, even though I would like to take Comp Sci 105 because it will save me some time.
Thanks!

Furthermore, reason advisor gave me for not accepting my CIS4500 Network Server (below in Other Courses) for Network Technology at TESU was its being a Community College course. Even though it was a UL 4000 level course at CC.

What matters with SDC is not what SDC thinks it is (100-level) but what the accepting school thinks it is. With TESU and SDC, there are some 300-level courses that come in as LL. 100 level courses may be brought in as higher.

Check out https://study.com/college/school/thomas-...rsity.html to see what I mean. Both CS105 and CS305 at SDC are IDENTICAL at TESU: COS-240. No sense doing the UL course when it is much more work and not needed.

Your reply reduced my frustration. Thanks a bunch!
I have already spent a lot of time and money on taking these courses from brick-and-mortar colleges in the past .
Taking them again not just for me but for majority of people would be time consuming.
But knowing an easy SDC course can substitute that requirement is a life saver. I hope after completing at SDC reviewing advisor at TESU will not have an issue with it, unless they really want me to just keep repeating these courses.

I thought it would be better if I mention following in this reply as well.

If the CC doesn't offer Bachelor's degrees, TESU's policy is to bring everything in as LL. If it does offer Bachelor's degrees, you can appeal to TESU and ask for a review with supporting evidence.

Thank you bjcheung77!
I will be majoring in BA CS. I am not doing BALS.
I will go get that Comp Sci 105 for TESU Operating Sys requirement.

I would take the Study.com courses in this order.

Operating Systems
MIS (take placement test first) UL
Systems Analysis UL
DB Management UL
Data Structures
Computer Architecture UL

Do last UL at Saylor or TESU

You should be able to do most of the Study.com courses in 20 hours or less. Keep moving forward, and you'll get there soon enough.
Degrees: BA Computer Science, BS Business Administration with a concentration in CIS, AS Natural Science & Math, TESU. 4.0 GPA 2022.
Course Experience:  CLEP, Instantcert, Sophia.org, Study.com, Straighterline.com, Onlinedegree.org, Saylor.org, Csmlearn.com, and TEL Learning.
Certifications: W3Schools PHP, Google IT Support, Google Digital Marketing, Google Project Management

Thank you for this kind act. I will use the order in your post. Yes, last UL i.e. Software Engineering, I am planning to do it either at Saylor or TESU.

CC courses are ALWAYS considered LL at TESU - a CC, assuming it's a 2yr school, does not offer UL courses.  Only 4yr schools can offer those.
