TESU Eliminates SOME Study.com Transfer Credits [unconfirmed]
#71
I did Operating Systems last year, so I don't really remember much, but I think it was pretty easy. You could almost certainly finish and pass the course by Sunday if you started right now. Discrete Math is more difficult, but you ought to be able to get it done.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

Depends on the person and whether they have a job, family, etc. Some can put in way more hours than others.

CS 105: Introduction to Operating Systems and Math 108: Discrete Mathematics do not have any assignments (only the quizzes and proctored final exams).

CS 305: Operating Systems does have an assignment that needs to be graded, but it transfers into TESU for the same equivalency as CS 105 (COS-240).
Ongoing: MLIS

June 2022, Thomas Edison State University (TESU): Second degree - BA in Computer Science + ASNSM in Mathematics + Cert. in CIS + Cert. in Operations Mgmt.
e-Packs: Computer Concepts; Industrial Psych.
Guided Study: Comp. Architecture
Online: Intro. to PLA; Database Mgmt.; Software Eng.; Data Structures; Liberal Arts Capstone; DSI-610 (Statistics.com)

May 2019, a residential, RA institution: BA in Political Science and Educational Studies
Relevant equivalencies: MAT-321; MAT-431; STA-315

@gams007 - As I keep mentioning, only focus on those two courses, I did operating systems in 1 day, and scored a 92 final score. I only had a 95 from the quizzes and didn't bother getting 100% as you just need 70% to finish/pass. Discrete Math is much harder, but can be done in a week if you spend the time doing all 88 lessons. It took me 20 lessons a day and a practice quiz to make sure I remember the info... Skip the rest for now!

It can be done.  You need to drop everything and only focus on those 2 classes as if your life depended on it.

My suggestion is to do the placement tests first and try to test out of 25% to 50% of the course using similar courses.  (do them fast like 30min each)

https://study.com/academy/course/busines...stems.html
https://study.com/academy/course/informa...tions.html
https://study.com/academy/course/compute...tions.html

Dicrete Math also has a placement test:
https://study.com/academy/course/math-10...atics.html

Report back to us what placement tests worked best to help others.

Take the practice final exam till you can score at least 65%, then take the final exam.

I'm assuming bjcheung77 did CS 105: Introduction to Operating Systems in a day, as TESU brings CS105 & CS305 both as CS 105 (COS-240)

I'm assuming bjcheung77 did CS 105: Introduction to Operating Systems in a day, as TESU brings CS105 & CS305 both as CS 105 (COS-240)

The general recommendation on this board has been to go for CS105 as it's much easier than CS305 and they're brought in the same (COS-240). Even without the time crunch, I don't know of any board members who have chosen to pursue CS305 knowing it comes in as the lower level course. Given the time crunch, I think it's safe to say CS105 is what people should be pursuing if they need it.

Operating systems is barely a step up from an Intro to Computers course.

I would suggest taking the final practice exam as soon as you start the course to see where you are at.  If you score 60% or higher, I wouldn't bother reading anything but the bold print on the pages. Forget the videos.

Does anyone recall how long it takes for study.com to send transcripts to TESU ? I’m assuming as long as TESU receives transcript before end of day 12/31/21. It will be accepted.
