TESC Evaluation - Need Input

The technical studies evaluation looks much better. Like I said above, all you'll need for the area of study is the current trends and applications course (this would be the equivalent of the capstone you would take for liberal studies), project management ($299 and self-paced with Sophia Learning), DSST in MIS, and TECEP for Networking Technology. The only annoying part will be finding chemistry II w/lab or completing physics I and II w/lab at Straighterline.

Once you fill in computer studies, the rest of your engineering and architecture credits will drop down to the 18-credit area of study section.

Ok I definitely like the idea of a science degree and this seems pretty attainable.

So looking at the requirements again, I see this particular degree just says chem or physics with lab, and doesn’t say 1 & 2, so do you think I could just take a physics 1 class and they would just add it into that section? Also Would the DSST tests with question marks next to them in my table work to fulfill those requirements?

Last, would I still have enough UL requirements for the degree? I know with the DSST tests it should fulfill my computer requirements, but even when all of the engineering and drafting classes move down, I don’t think I will have the requirements for the additional 12 ULs, unless I’m missing something which is more than likely.

You could replace some of those DSSTs with TECEPs for the discount on enrollment fees etc.

I forgot about the new DSST for cyber security, but the other ones look easier. I've only taken MIS, which was easy for me, but the breakdown for networking makes it look easier than cyber security. I thought the equivalent TEEX track was a pain. According to the eval you posted, you only need 4.66 credits in computer studies.

The webpage says that you need to complete physics I and II or chemistry I and II. TESC does offer a 6-week, standalone lab for chemistry II. You can test out of the lecture portion with the CLEP.

Ok I have 2UL area of study credits currently. MIS DSST and TECEP Netoworking each give me 3 more for a total of 8.

Where can I get the 4 remaining UL credits? Is TEEX UL?

On the evaluation, it says that current trends and applications and project management count for 6 of the 12 UL credits. I know it looks confusing because they repeat the same thing multiple times, but you only need to worry about 12 UL credits for the whole area of study.

O that is great news!!!

Those 6, with DSST MIS, and the 2 I already have will put me at a frustrating 11 UL credits. I guess there is no chance any of the TEEX credits are UL.

Since I just need 12 UL over all, is there any other obscure sources of credit in any of the other areas of study to get me the 1 or 2 credits I need?

TEEX Cyber security for IT Pros is upper level (at least it was). But it might double up with DSST Cyber so don't duplicate those two.

Yes, TEEX Cyber Security for IT Professionals counts as 2 credits for CIS-344. It does duplicate the DSST for Cyber Security, which is worth 3 credits. If you're interested in the Per Credit Tuition Plan, as KayV said, you want to take at least 7 TECEPs to go along with the current trends and applications course for a total of 24 credits in residence. The TECEP for Networking Technology is UL, can be taken at home with ProctorU, and will only cost $111. If you aren't interested in the Per Credit Tuition Plan, even though it will save you a lot of money, then at least TEEX is free.

Just wanted to add to the TEEX. I didn't like it much at all. They spoke in absolutes when it came to the characteristics of viruses/malware/worms. In real life many of these characteristics are blurred. Life is never as black and white as they make it out to be and therefore ended up getting quite a few wrong. I also found the class monotonous and dry. If i were to do it again I would do the DSST.
