You don't need CMP-354. You can take the Linear Algebra course at Coopersmith, but it's hard too and I gave up really quickly. The text is hard to follow and doesn't help much. They materials they provide are skeleton at best.
I'm thinking about taking the six credits, but I'm waiting. Will try to get a job and just use the TESU transcript as a credit bank. Or I might do BS in Technical Studies with certificate in computer science. Really not sure what I'm going to do.
Run the numbers and see if you can get an IT degree. Project management is pretty easy at SDC and so are the other necessary courses. IMHO the APS capstone is much easier than the liberal arts one. But I detest writing papers.
I think IT with the CS certificate will be more marketable than technical studies. SDC networking works for the IT degree as long as you have enough upper level from other stuff.
You are too close to give up now but hopefully you will be able to find a job and get some increased cash flow.

I recently took the CMP 354 TECEP, I do not yet have my results back yet. It was 70 multi choice and 3 essay.
I took the Study.com courses Comp Sci 304 Network System Design and the TECEP Network technology. I took notes along the way and took the practice exams several times recording the correct answers to the missed questions.
I also followed all the links in the Test description page and took notes from those sources and did all all the sample questions several times.
There was also a few CMP 354 playlists on youtube. The playlists usually had some of the aforementioned links with some other videos. I watched these too.
There are two flashcard lists on Quizlet under BrilliantFocus that seems to pull from the recommended books vocabulary list.
I would say the SDC courses moderately align with the exam. There is feedback on SDC when you finish a course and I repeatedly give feedback that their test prep for TECEP & Uexcel is quite poor and doesn't align well with the exams they are meant to prepare you for. I would say there is some off target (at least for the exam I took, not sure how many different versions there are) content in the SDC courses but not too much. Rather it seems there is a range of things they never cover that was in the exam.
I have no significant professional IT background but I'd say around ~40% was what I would consider easy or very straightforward for anyone that's somewhat "techy" and is familiar with internet / network technologies and terms.
I would still recommend the SDC courses and practice exam but also very carefully look over the Quizlets. Something that is in the bigger quizlet that I didn't expect on the exam was multiple questions on IEEE standards. Basically they will ask you what standard is 802.**** If the exam questions are rotating that's a pretty big boring list to draw from.
Make sure you know what layer of the OSI model different devices or operations happen.
Some of the links on the Test description page go to youtube videos over a decade old.
Right now I'm ambiguous on my score. I could see it going either way but I'm more to the pessimistic side. If you're concerned about this test I would suggest doing those SDC courses with practice exams, follow the content suggestions from above, and then just take the test and be conscientious of questions you're unsure about so you can review them afterwards if you need to retake.
I'd like to see TESU add paid practice exams like Excelsior has for their Uexcels. Considering the problems people have with this particular exam it seems like InstantCert would do well to add practice exams for it too.

Searched the net for a bit of resource... Is this a good playlist of topics? https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL...oSKod6X3YI
Or is the SDC piece better? https://study.com/academy/course/tecep-n...-prep.html

Hi, I just recently passed this test with a 76%. I barely have an IT background and I studied hard for this test. Couple of tips below of my studying.
1. Buy the Speechify app on your phone or tablet. Believe it is on IOS and Android. Find a PDF of the class book that is recommended and import it to speechify. This will convert the text to speech for you. I listened through that book 2 times while I was in traffic going to work. Definitely helped.
2. Also, watch or purchase the audio version for Dr. Messners Network + course and listen/watch these as they also helped with certain areas
3. The course syllabus has a list of videos to watch, recommend watching them. Also if you search CMP-354 in YouTube there is a couple of playlist to watch
4. I think what helped the most of was quizlet. First, search for the book on quizlet and you will find a set of flash cards with all the terms from the book. Study these everyday as there is a lot of definitions you need to remember. Also, in the book after each chapter there is a short multiple choice test. You can find all the chapter questions on Quizlet by searching, study these as well.
5. This is optional as it only helped me slightly but don’t think it was necessary. Study.com has a course for the CMP-354 tecep exam but it barely goes into detail of what is in the book but this may be helpful for others in the beginning of their studying.
Last thing I recommend is to buy the monthly subscription for quizlet as it has a learn + option and constantly do the test method with the flash cards.

The pdf of the Intro to Networking Basics book you can find for free on Google, or buy a used copy for $25.
Search CMP-354 to find the Quizlets.
Be sure you know the OSI 7 layers like the back of your hand. Not just what they are but what they do.
I failed the exam because I didn't read the book though I got 58% so it wasn't like I was super far away from passing. What threw me off were the really specific questions such as what is ZigBee is used for? or what is baselining?
People that have passed this most often get like 70%-79%. Nobody usually aces this thing. If you can get a 60% on the multiple-choice questions then 90% on the essays, you can tightrope your way this exam and pass.
What is needed is for someone to make one big Quizlet that covers everything from the book and closely mirrors what they will ask for on the actual test. I made notes on the test, and if someone needs help pm me.

Edit Reason: summary questions too
)
Thanks so much for this. It's hard to find resources so I've decided to supplement using what @ Kurt8991 has kindly provided and mainly go through the book chapter by chapter since the test would likely draw key terms from the book. However I can't seem to find the pre-test, post-test, summary question and it's answer keys apart from what's available on the website, which are only:
- "Chapter Opener Questions" that answers two questions beginning of each chapter ( http://bcs.wiley.com/he-bcs/Books?action...ceId=27002)
- & "Projects Manual "without answer keys ( http://bcs.wiley.com/he-bcs/Books?action...ceId=27393)
The text book says this: "For additional questions and to assess you current knowledge of networking fundamentals, go to http://www.wiley.com/go/ciccarelli/ networkingbasics2e". Have emailed them and hoping for an answer though I doubt we'll get one since it's one of the lesser known books. Has anyone actually gone through the book and used it?

I doubt it, I read somewhere a person said even with open book he wouldn't have passed it. Which implies it isn't open book. The resource from TESU doesn't say it either. (Resource: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Vpx7...HASoE/edit)
