Hi all,
Just went through the process of registering (and purchasing) the Medical Terminology TECEP for the sole reason of withdrawing (or "dropping", idk which!) and using it to extend my active student status.
I stupidly bought the February 2026 dated TECEP, so I think I have to wait till February now?
Could anyone give me the concrete steps in how I actually withdraw from a TECEP so that it updates my active student status? It's all a bit confusing with the interdependent areas of myEdison.
Thanks!

Thanks! Today is 01/21/26. The earliest TECEP you can register is for February.

Does the school email you to let you know if your active status is about to lapse?

No, there's a January 2026 TECEP available too. If there is, there shouldn't be. TESU policy is that you sign up before the term begins, not after.

Just because you can see the January 2026 Term on your TESU self service portal does NOT mean you can register for that term. That is why you do not see the "Register Now" button. How long ago were your last TESU enrollment?

You don't want to withdraw or drop it. You want to sign up and then just don't take the test. If you withdraw, it won't extend your enrollment.

Since I've registered the TECEP in the February term (which ends on April 26), if I don't withdraw or drop the TECEP and wait it out, my active student deadline would have elapsed. As per my student ID, I've got: Valid Until: 2026-03-12.
IIRC when I got the 2 free scholarship TECEPs and withdrew them, it still updated my active student date.

Hi @FungiTao,
the following TESU policy may not fully apply to you as I don't know whether you are military-affiliated (I believe this rule applies in general), but I think we can deduce that "you will be considered an applicant until you register for your first course and reach the 10th day of your first term (semester). At this point, your status is switched from applicant to active and enrolled." (see TESU policy here: https://www.tesu.edu/student-resources/m...status.php)
Thus, if you registered for the February, 2026 term, I suppose that your valid until date should be updated on February 10-11, 2026.
This is my best guess based on the official information we can get from TESU.
If this information is not good enough for you, you can ask TESU directly.

Yes, you're correct. I contacted advising, who confirmed this, but didn't get a clear answer on how withdrawal of the TECEP affects this.
On another note, apparently a withdrawal may count as an exam attempt (which actually contradicts the TECEP information page), but hey, as long as I'm considered an active student for the year I'm happy
Thanks for the help @animuscerebri!
