TAMUC General Studies (BGS CBE)

Hello! I just started my BGS at TAMUC. I transferred in 90 credits from Military and other Colleges. I have seen in-depth reviews about the Organizational Leadership (OGL) track but nothing on the BGS track. Has anyone in here completed it and could provide a review of the course load? 

I just need the 4 required courses and 6 electives after I complete this 7 week term.

GSCB 301 Pathways, Purpose, Exploration
GSCB 402 Innovative Design
GSCB 404 Leveraging Diversity
Capstone

Considering a few of the ORGL courses as electives, to avoid the 10-12 page papers. 

Would love to hear any feedback or reviews on any courses you took as part of the BGS, especially the four required ones and any suggestions for interesting classes to fulfill my electives. 
I am just checking a box with it really, I do have 2 other management courses from previous college and credit from leadership courses in the Military.

When my wife took it, they gave her a list of TAMUC electives that applied to her BGS major. I thought she could take some of the ORGL classes that I had previously taken to use as her electives, but they were not on the list.

Hopefully some others who have taken BGS will comment on the classes.

I completed the ORGL program, and I would recommend it. However, it will not exempt you from completing longer papers, as there is still quite a bit of writing, especially with Capstone 1 and 2. I think you would have a great foundation with your experience in the military. I work for a Fortune 500 company in management, and I was already familiar with most of the concepts, so I could quickly get through the courses. However, you will still need to put in the work to finish at an accelerated pace.

I am not a strong writer, and I was able to finish capstone 1 and 2 for ORGL. You are going to have papers to write in several classes, no matter which major you pick. My wife had to write papers for the classes she took in BGS. The difference between my wife and I, is she is a strong writer and can just knock out the papers, while I have to really slow down to figure out how to put my thoughts on paper. I can fly through reading assignments and multiple choice or fill in the blank. My wife and I are definitely opposites when it comes to study skills and strengths and weaknesses in a class.

I was also intimidated by some of the descriptions, but I finished my capstones in an extended weekend. They were longer than most papers, but really no big deal. Very doable. I feel that TAMUC instructors in this program are generous graders as well.

If you can't drop it, push through it. Even a D is better than an F.  Maybe you can manage a C, as it would be just good enough to put it behind you and not knock your GPA down too much at all. I think you can do it!
