Stupid TESC Questions
#1
Hello, I recently was accepted by TESC I already have most of my credits for my BSBA in General Management. I will have saved up enough money to enroll in the Enrolled Options Tuition Plan by late September. I want to apply for graduation in October so I can graduate in December.

My main question is when you pay your enrollment fee how long does it take for you to become "officially" enrolled and are able to apply for graduation?

My other question is if say, you were to apply for graduation with less than 120 credits would you have the two months between October and December to get up to 120? Or is it necessary to have all your credits at the time you apply?

Thanks!

The official policy is outlined in the graduation application: http://www.tesc.edu/documents/Request_fo...n_Form.pdf

You are to have degree requirements met by the deadline date for that quarter meaning that your degree audit shows 120/120 complete. If you have credits pending in transfer from another school or from a test you completed then you can add that in the space given. Many people have seen some flexibility on that date itself but the real trick is that the credits at least need to be pending when you apply. If you have credits that are complete and just not entered then you should be able to apply.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

Thank you. I hadn't seen that link. Smile

So it looks like I just need to ensure that I am enrolled, my evaluation says 120/120, and I pay all the graduation fees.
Any pending credits may or may not prevent me from graduating.

Does it take any significant amount of time to go from being an applied student to being an enrolled one once the enrollment fee is payed?

Mine took a few days to clear in their system. Things may be better or worse from two years ago.

Saiga,

I know it's too late for you to take advantage of the pay per credit tuition plan but please, when you enroll also ask to activate an associate degree as well, AA General Studies. At TESC you can enroll in both a 2yr and 4yr degree at the same time. If you've met the current requirements for the BSBA then you've completed the AA as well. This way for the money you are spending you will at least earn a 2yr and 4yr degree. Enter both degrees on the request for graduation form and both will be included in the same $299 graduation fee; consider it a 2fer (2 for 1) special.Big Grin

Now that you've applied be sure to get all transcripts to them as soon as possible; the intitial evaluation takes a long time. CLEP and DSST transcripts are sent for free after each test so no worry there but your other college transcripts will have a fee. If you are waiting to finish up a course, wait until completed before requesting that transcript.

If you apply for graduation on or before October 1, and have one or two tests you are planning to take during the month or a course(s) ending late October just include all in secton 3 of the form. (Example: CLEP/Exam Title, School/Course/End Date.) They will begin your graduation file, clear it through the Bursar, and it will sit in a pending pile until the final transcripts have arrived and posted. Then the file will be pushed through audit and certification. Do not worry, you'll have plenty of time remaining as long as you get that form faxed or emailed in time.

Note, once you are enrolled you will have access to your online student services and can check on received transcripts. As soon as the pending transcripts have arrived, shoot the graduation specialist an email and let her know. Contact information will be included in the graduation request confirmation email. She will then contact the evaluations team to update your transcript and your file will be expedited through processing. If expedited processing is requested the turnaround is approx 2-4 days.

Hope this helps in understanding TESCs admin/grad process. Good luck!

Just as an FYI, below are links to my posts comparing pricing and a BSBA degree plan utilizing TECEPs. Please share the information with others you know who might be interested in earning a degree at TESC. I only wish this plan was available when I was an undergrad student.

Bric,
Thank you for the very clear explanation regarding graduating and oustanding courses/tests. It will be helpful to many of us.

LateBloomer,

Happy to be of service!

I have had a previous post criticized for length but this is the main reason I try to include as much relevant information as possible; because I know not only is the OP reading but others as well. My goal is not only to answer the question asked but also the usual follow up questions. I've discussed more offline with those in the grad queue (or close to the end) who've had special needs, or last minute timing, but this is the basics of the process. TESC is simply amazing at helping students excel, and will go above and beyond to make that happen.

That is perfect! After learning that TESC will likely not accept my BYU Japanese exam, I am going to have to take the NYU test. I wasn't sure if the test would be sent to and from my testing center and then graded and sent to TESC in time to make the graduation application deadline. This gives me a little room to breathe. Thanks a ton!
