Study.com strategy?
#11
@Palermoga, Welcome to the board, that's similar advice provided by members as well, it's generally a good idea to try scoring higher on the quizzes, the final, and also do your best to get the highest grades for the assignments as well. Just in case that the next academic journey at the Masters level requires some indication of your transferred ACE/NCCRS credits. BTW, the post you replied to is almost 6 years old. You can always do a search and update a newer thread instead if you wanted...

I took a bunch of Sophia classes over the past few days and am now starting my first Study.com class. Both of these are new to me.

I like Sophia, in the sense that a few hours is enough for a lot of classes. I completed three classes on some days. I don't think Study.com will be nearly as fast.

However, I really like how Study.com is set up, as far as efficiently learning material. Somebody tell me if I'm missing something. But what I like so far is that you can keep taking the quizzes (which are numerous but brief) until you get 100%. In doing so, you are learning the material in probably my favorite way to learn. I love it when you can take quizzes repeatedly until you get it right.

I think it's the perfect way to prepare for a test. I wish I could find something just like it, but for the PMP exam.

The math somebody posted before (100% quiz, 70% test, 40% assignments) seems realistic to me, though I haven't taken one of the tests yet. But I am guessing that getting a 70% should be pretty easy if you retake the quizzes until they are all 100%.

When you are taking quizzes, just keep in mind that the highest score of the first 3 times you take the quiz is counted. For example, if you get an 80, 70 and 90 in 3 tries, the 90 would be counted.

Quizzes for similar classes also stack, as some of the lessons are reused across classes. Some of the classes also have placement tests, which can allow you to cut across 10 to 20% (sometimes more) of the quizzes to speed up your completion rate.

Finally, the initial coverage is 2 proctored tests in the month within your subscription, but the upper limit is 5 tests in a month if you pay $70 extra per test.

With Study.com, the key is getting near 100% on the quizzes. Then, you only need a 55% score on the final exam to pass. Your grade on the final exam will likely be within 10% of what you scored on the practice exam. You get three tries to pass each quiz, and most of the time, they give you the answer when you get it wrong.

For Study.com courses that include papers, this usually makes it easier to pass as the final exam doesn't matter as much. Some upper-level (UL) courses can be passed with as little as a 30% grade on the final exam.

The most common complaint with Study.com is the volume of quizzes, but I think that helps for a difficult subject as it keeps you on track with learning each part.
