Study.com Social Psych review

Just a few thoughts on study.com's Social Psych while they are still on my mind:

• Know Covariance really well.
  
• Know the theories and whose they are.
  
• Utilize the printable flashcards that are in the last chapter -- at the beginning of the session if you can. I printed them off halfway through the course and carried them around to study during random spare seconds (such is the life of a homeschool parent).
  
• Use the quizzes to become strong in the material given.
  
• Make sure to get 100% on every quiz, it will help with the final course grade.
  

You can set up a study schedule via the Study Trainer option, and even choose whether it will email you reminders or not. I like setting up a schedule and then beating it by working ahead milelol:

After the final, you can check your Dashboard under the College Accelerator Exams portion, for a soft final exam score -- the final grade score will show up in a few days or so, but this soft score gives a good idea if the final needs to be retaken (which is permitted after 3 days).

We are taking the same exams in opposite order =) I took history of Vietnam today and it has no score, just the word "pending" in the status field, I called them to ask about the soft score and they told me that that is a "bug" they are trying to fix because it does not factor in the quizzes which are now graded and a student could potentially think they failed because they see that score before their quiz qrades are factored in. Seems like a simple note next to the score would be able to inform them of this but what do I know I'm just a student. they said it is standard to have to wait for the final score and looks like they want to keep that formula =( (the bug being that a score on the final test was given before official review and calculation)

Oops!! Hopefully they didn't figure out the "bug" from reading my post! I think the way it showed for me is fine... I mean most anyone should have close to 100% of quiz scores, and then the "pending official review" score should obviously be just the final. It worked well for me, and I was thinking it was a good system. Otherwise why offer to allow people to retake finals after three days if they won't even know their score by then?!?

Test-o-matic, how was the final? I'm nervous about it... even printed off extra study resources I found online at other learning sites to review for the final. I'm not a huge history buff as far as remembering names/dates, even though I do love learning and reading history. Any tips/suggestions?

I don't have my score yet, but I am very confident that I did well. As far as dates I can't remember a single question asking for exact dates, in fact most questions are worded as such that they will tell you the year it happened, what leaders were involved, what happened during the operation and then give you 4 answers to choose from. Usually 2 of the answers have no mention in the videos so they are easy to rule out. The test is straight forward, I can't believe that THEY actually recommend only 4 hours of study for this test. looking back that might be enough for a pass but may also be a gamble, I watched all the videos (32) which is way less than any of their other courses. I made sure to get 100's on all the quizzes, I did 2 chapter exams and did well on both so I skipped to the practice final and did great on that too so I just took the final from there. I am not a history buff but I don't hate it either. I swear they have like 10 images from the war that they show in the videos over and over no matter what they are talking about, that part was annoying!

I agree about the images! I found it interesting to see the differences in images when the female teacher did a few lessons. I though I heard her read "NFL" for "NLF", but it wasn't such a big deal that I feel the need to go back and double check.

Thanks for the basic overview of the final!! I think I'll go back and start reviewing the different Operation & offensives because I got a little confused after the whole "breakfast, lunch, dinner," etc, names and what they actually covered/meant.

I think I'm going to go back through and watch all the videos again <sigh>. I feel like I understand the war better until I take the chapter tests and get confused with all the seemingly random facts/names/cities/battles just floating around in my brain :p

I caught that too, I immediately went back and checked and yes she does say NFL instead of NLF. Try to focus on the outcomes of battles and "lessons learned" as they pertain to each sides strategy moving forward. My main grip about the videos is that they are not presented in chronological order which kinda threw me at times. they skip around sometimes and that makes it difficult to remember in order. I am really enjoying the Social Psy. course. I hoped you paid attention to the research methods (quantitative and qualitative) as they will be of use to you when you do your capstone.
