Study.com One-year/72 credits
#1
Ok everyone, I am ready to begin this program and I signed up for my free trial. I am using the homeschool coupon found here https://www.homeschoolbuyersco-op.org/co...study.com/ for the price of $990. The co-op charges a $9.95 service fee for providing the coupon but this is still the best deal for Study.com that I've seen. Excluding the service fee, this program comes out to $13.75 per credit/41.25 per class per 3 credits.

I am going to review the courses in this thread as I go along for the next year. I am able to take two proctored exams per month for credit. If I fail an exam I am able to retake it again but I would need to wait until the next month and then I would lose one of my planned courses for the future months and also cause the price per course to climb. Hopefully sometime down the line this thread will be a good help for someone who is considering this route.

I will basically be going straight down the degree plan for the order of classes. I am going to start with World Religions and Sociology, then knock out the two Science courses and then tackle a bunch of History courses which will also make up all of my electives. I have two spots for classes that I haven't filled yet and I'm hoping the Communications spot can be filled by this program again in the future. If not, I will do the SL course. Study.com said on this forum that they are in the process of reviewing some courses with TESU to get them back up to the 3 credits so I am cautiously hopeful. The other spot will just be a general ed elective that I haven't decided on yet. If anyone has any ideas on how to make this plan more efficient or easier than I am all ears and very open to suggestions. After the History courses I will move into the Business stuff and I'm sure I will ask for advice on that when the time comes but that won't be for about 6 months.

Wish me luck as I begin the World Religions course tonight!

My only thought is to take courses in a logical order. All your history classes together. Macro/Microecon together. Math together. Psych courses. Business courses. Etc. Grouping things together will give you some overlap that will help as you go.

Also, just having a plan is the best way to do anything in life.

Good luck and have fun taking two courses at a time each month. It'll be a fun learning experience and you'll have more time for each course.
I would recommend pacing yourself and if you have access to supplementary materials (at the library or online, etc), use them as secondary guides.

I would try to grab as many upper level classes as you can from Study.com, since those are harder to find elsewhere when it's not easy to get to a testing center.

Good luck!

Also, don't forget that you can use Study.com to actually study for courses other than the 2 you're going to take exams for each month. For instance, they have Financial Accounting and Supply Chain Management as courses that aren't ACE-recommended. But, you could certainly use those to study for the Financial Accounting CLEP or TECEP, or to decide if you're interested in taking the Supply Chain course at CSU-Global or Penn Foster.

That's great advice! It seems obvious, but is something I definitely would have overlooked if I was in that position.

Yes, they actually have TECEP prep courses too. Such as Statistics - and the TECEP is easier than the Study.com final anyway (and only needs a 55%)
