Yes, you need a microphone. They need to be able to not only see what you're doing, but hear you and your surroundings as well. I just use a laptop that has a built in webcam. Any laptop with a webcam has built in microphone. If you are using a desktop, just be sure to buy a webcam that includes a microphone (available for under$ $10 online).
You will need both video and audio (microphone) for any of the online proctoring credit options - Saylor, Straighterline, Study.com, Ed4Credit.com, Sophia.Org, Davar, etc

Using a built-in laptop webcam can be harder, because you have to turn the webcam around to show your room. USB webcams are cheap. Make sure to get one that's not really old so it has the minimum resolution.

Most online proctors such as ProctorU and RPNow require similar things. Verified ID is first. They look at the desk/work space, 360 around the room, the front of the laptop using a mirror.

It doesn't specify anywhere exactly what ID you need as far as I know. I had to use an expired US license for over 9 months before I could get back to the US this March to get my license renewed. They never said anything. The bad part about it for the weekend is you won't know for sure until after you take the test if it's accepted or not. If you can wait until Monday, just shoot an email to the support tab on the website. |
