Study Guid from Clep website, any use?
#1
Hi, I have taken 3 Clep's so far, but never before used one of the 10$ study guids from the college board website.

Now I want to clep College Algebra on Monday and I have downloaded that study giud. At one point on the website it says "Actual questions from the test."

So my question:

Did anyone ever get one of those 10$ official college board study guids, and did any of the questions on the study guid really show up on the actual Exam?

I've used the Official CLEP study guide from CollegeBoard and found it of use, but I've never tried the downloaded ones for specific exams.

I am interested in hearing your feedback on them though, so please let us know how it works out. Are they worth the $10 even if the questions aren't on the exam? In other words, is it a decent study guide?

Well the Study guid basically looks like this :

65 Questions & an Answer-Key. You get a better idea of how the test will look like, which is useful, if you are not sure how to study for it. The ones I have taken so far where all Literature-oriented so I wanted to get an idea of how the math test will look like.

But in general the study guid I would give it 6.5/10. If any of the questions will actually be on the Exam 1:1 I would give it 8/10. Because it gives you the chance to scrap up a few point by studying the Question/Answer of the ones you think you could never solve with the given information.

But besides Question/Answer the study guid offers NOTHING.

Hmm, so you're basically paying $10 for a practice test. Well, please let us know if it has the actual questions on there. I'd agree that would increase it's value. Math especially just for the reasons you outlined.

Good luck on the exam!

Hi!

I have the Official CLEP Study Guide also, which covers all 30+ exams. If someone is planning to take more than 1 CLEP exam, it is much more cost effective to get the whole guide. My guide was from 2009.

I saw on the official website that the Computer CLEP exam was updated for 2010, so I bought the $10 guide online. It is the same info that is given in the one specific section of the big guide. Again, it is much cheaper to buy the big guide. The test I was taking was updated so I was glad to have a way to check for new sample questions. There were about 20.

If I recall correctly, I did see some of the same/similar questions (1 or 2) on my exams over a year ago, but I don't remember that happening recently.

For me, these sample questions in the official guide are the best way to guage my readiness for the real exam.

Another thought:

For math or other exams which require calculations, be sure to download the CLEP Sampler from the official CLEP website. It gives the opportunity to practice using the calculator, which will be available on the exam computer.

That sounds like a useful idea, ill definitely do that. Even though I doubt I will pass the College Algebra on Monday, but i have to take it, because after that my schools testingcenter is closed for 2 weeks... great 2.5 days of study and tonight I gotta work ;/ And I need to know where I am at because of my summer semester schedule ... Damn Pre-requisite!
