Sophia to UMPI
#1
Information
Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice on transferring courses from Sophia to UMPI. I have almost 50 Sophia courses and I'm hoping to transfer as many credits as possible.
This is my first time applying to college, so any help would be greatly appreciated. The UMPI page on the Sophia website doesn't have any information and while I've found some transfer equivalencies online and on the UMPI website, there seems to be conflicting information.

I'm confident that I have more than 90 transferable credits, but I haven't submitted anything yet.

My goal is to finish my degree in one semester. To do this, I want to transfer the most challenging courses and take the easiest ones at UMPI. I could really use some help figuring out the best combination of courses to avoid any overlap. Also, I don't want to pay Parchment for courses that are unnecessary.

Here's a list of the courses I've taken at Sophia. Thanks in advance for your help!

You don't mention which degree program you're planning on enrolling at UMPI. You have more than enough credits to apply and start UMPI. You must complete a minimum of 30 credits at UMPI. There may also be additional residency requirements based upon which degree you're going for. Easy varies from person to person so there's not real way to quantify that.

At YourPace Business Administration – Management & Leadership Concentration.

I don't have a problem retaking an easy course there if they accept a difficult one from Sophia. That's why I don't want to send them everything. I'm afraid they might give me 10 courses that I won't be able to complete in one session.

You won't have a choice in what courses you need to complete at UMPI. Sophia doesn't have most of the business courses. Apply and then you'll see where you stand and what you have left that you could take from Study if you want. There's no guarantee that you'll be able to finish 10 courses in 1 term. Most people don't.

@agelakis. gio, Welcome to the board, it's great you've completed an good intro post with most of the required info on the addendum and template, but you missed a few items, thus, you're getting questions more than answers.  It's best to provide greater details...

Now we know you're going for the UMPI BABA M&L, I would recommend following through with the advice and link provided, then create a spreadsheet of what you currently have and what is remaining by comparing the degree plan, link us to your spreadsheet as a viewable (not-editable) file and we will comment on it further.

Here's the addendum, template, if you have more info to provide, update us, it's best to do your homework and then showcase what you're having issues with, we can help you if you're having trouble with the homework, we can't really do that for you until we know your situation better... https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Area-works

Hi to everyone,
I am George
I live in Athens, Greece.
I am 44 Years old.
I am planning for a Degree at UMPI Your Pace BABA M&L

Not having military experience (in US).
I am planning to complete everything in one session.

Sophia Credits: 120+

1. BUS 1105 Business Communications
2. Business Law
3. Financial Accounting
4. Introduction to Business
5. Macroeconomics & Microeconomics

6. Introduction to Statistics
7. Principles of Finance
8. Principles of Management
9. English Composition I
10.  Business Ethics
11. Calculus I
12. Career Readiness
13. College Readiness
14. Conflict Resolution
15. Critical Thinking
16.  Managerial Accounting
17. Foundations of Statistics
18. Human Biology Lab  +LAB
19. Introduction to Chemistry +Lab
20. Introduction to Ethics
21. Personal Finance
22. Precalculus
23. Project Management
24. Lifespan Development
25. Visual Communications
26. Environmental Science

27. Approaches to Studying Religions
28. Introduction to Information Technology
29. Introduction to Nutrition
30. Introduction to College Mathematics
31. Public Speaking
32. Spanish I
33. U.S. Government
34. U.S. History I
35. Workplace Communication
36. Introduction to Sociology
37. Ancient Greek Philosophers
38. Art History I
39. Art History II
40. College Algebra

I am counting together Microeconomics & Macroeconomics for 3 Credits.
I do also have but I am not counting Microbiology (no lab), Developing effective teams (1 credit), The Essentials of Managing Conflict (1 Credit), Introduction to Networking(it is CS)

The reason I am creating a new post is that there is a contradiction between the information given here:
https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UM...quivalents
here:
https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UM...quivalents
here:
https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UM...egree_Plan
and here :
https://mainestreetcs.maine.edu/psp/CSPR..._GUEST.GBL
My questions are:
  1. What are the exact, or closest, course equivalencies between Sophia and UMPI? Does anyone have a recent, clear, and effective path/plan to share? My goal is to take only 10 courses at UMPI. I know that I have to take most upper-level courses at UMPI, but I think there are 1-4 majors and minors where I can transfer some credits. I would prefer to transfer 2xxx or 3xxx level courses from Sophia and take simpler introductory courses at UMPI. This is why I'm trying to find the exact transfer equivalencies. I'm afraid that if I send them all 40 courses, they might not prioritize the upper-level Sophia courses and instead choose to have me retake them at UMPI.
  2. Where can I find UMPI course material to start studying before the session starts? This way, I can be sure I can complete everything in 8 weeks.
  3. Can I use Credly to send my courses for free, or do I have to pay Parchment? I've already tested Credly, and it sends an official PDF in 1 minute (UMPI submission deadline is August 2, 2024).
Thank you!

In your other post, I already told you that Sophia does not have all of the business courses and you will have to take more than 10 courses at UMPI unless you take some from Study. There's plenty of info in the wiki about transferring from Sophia and Study to UMPI.

You cannot find the course materials before the term begins. All of the material is in the learning platform. Sharing anything from the learning platform would violate the honor code and could get people expelled.

You can use Credly to send your transcripts.
