Hi,
Does anyone know if UMPI, or any university that accepts Sophia credits, looks at the score of the Sophia course before accepting the credits via transfer? I've got 20 creidts so far and all of my scores are in the 90s, except one where I got an 89%. I wonder if I got like an 80% on a course, if UMPI would reject the credits.
Thanks

Sadly, most of the institutions will reject the Sophia.org classes as you haven't reached 100%... Yes, you need to have them at 100% transferred into your ACE/Credly before they will accept it. A 70% is a passing score for ACE credit, but if you don't place them into your ACE/Credly, it's worthless as most institutions do not accept it directly from Sophia.org as these are course providers, not transferable institutions, it needs to be evaluated by ACE and kept in your Credly for transcript and transfer purposes... In brief, you don't need anything more than 70%, but do shoot for 90% or higher like me!

Scores don’t affect UMPI as long as you passed the course on Sophia with the minimum of 70 & the Credly transcript that you submit just says pass. Some schools like Charter Oak require a higher score.

This sounds like good news! Your answer seems to contradict the previous answer though.
Thx!

Can you clarify your answer? It seems like you're saying most institutions, (including UMPI?) won't accept them unless they're 100%, but then you say shoot for 90% or higher. Thx!

Not really my answer, as you're mixing the info, there's too much mashed into that answer of mine. Let's break this down a little differently. Your question: Sophia.org to UMPI, will 80%+ on a class to transfer? My short answer in the first sentence: No, for institutions that don't take the transcripts from Sophia.org directly, it's 100% can't transfer.
Why? My 2nd sentence onward explained... You need to have them in the ACE/Credly system and have the credits transferred over from Credly, not through Sophia.org directly. What's a pass for ACE/NCCRS classes for most institutions you ask? It's 70% for ACE to recommended credit, COSC requires 80% showing, UMass Global requires 81.5% (Previously Brandman).
Again, In brief, you don't need anything more than 70%, but do shoot for 90% or higher like me! As I just mentioned, you need 70% for ACE to actually recommend credit and allow you to have it on the Credly transcript. It's all pass/fail except for a select few that would have %, such as COSC, UMass Global, etc, when they receive it. TESU, UMPI, and most others take the pass for credit...

I just busted my a$$ for 4 weeks to earn those 23 credits and I thought they were useless. You almost gave a heart attack! lol :-)
Ok, now it's clear. One other thing I noticed on the Credly website, that I just learned from the other reply to my post. Credly sends the transcript to the school. Not Sophia.org (as you also mentioned). Here's the weird thing: When I look on sophia.org, it shows 9 courses and 23 credits completed (7 at 3 credits and 2 at 1 credit), but when I go on Credly, it only shows 16 credits (it does show 9 badges) that can be transferred to schools like TESU (for some reason UMPI doesn't show up in the list). I completed 3 courses just today. Will it just take some time to show up? I thought it would be instant as I use the same email on my credly account as on my sophia.org account.

The Credly "available credits" tool is kind of nonsense. Ignore what it says. Check that all of your badges are showing up and go by the wiki to make sure that you have enough of the right credits.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA
Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

That's right, I just verify by making sure all the badges for the courses are showing up in my Credly, so if you have them all, that's all you need, you don't need to worry about the credits, the badges are most important and need to correspond.

I thought of something today that has me wondering a bit. Is it possible that a given online university would look at the dates of completion of some of the courses and consider them to be invalid? For example, some of these sophia.org courses you can pretty much fly throough and if you complete 2 or 3 in one day and the school sees the issue dates all within one day on the transcript, might that make them not accept the credits? Just wondering. I'm working really hard to complete these and I would hate to see them go to waste because I finished them quickly. Do they even consider the dates of completion?
Thx!
