Thanks to this forum, I am slated for graduation in December. I already had my associates degree from long ago, but due to all of the wonderful people and the information they share here, I am FINALLY finishing up (I started in January).
In emailing with my counselor at COSC today, I learned that Sophia's project management course is no longer accepted as upper level. It's a disappointment, to be certain, because now I need another upper level course to fulfill that requirement. I had pre-approved it with COSC in May that it would be UL. I was fully aware that there would be a lot of changes by Charter Oak on July 1st, but this course was not mentioned anywhere, so that was a big surprise. Sophia's course page on their website still shows it going to COSC as upper level, so obviously they need to update that.
What a bummer to learn this today - I am weary of all of the SDC assignment papers.

You shouldn't feel intimidated by the papers at SDC. They are are all pretty short and easy to do, especially when compared to the writing you'll do for your capstone. The upper-level coursework and papers are there to help you get better at academic writing and prepare for the capstone.
Working on: Debating whether I want to pursue a doctoral program or maybe another master's degree in 2022-23

I second that. No offense to anyone, but if you can't handle a 1500 or 3000 word paper from Study.com you are going to really hate life when you have to do a 25 page capstone, or where you have to turn in a 2000 word paper per week every week of a course you couldn't get through a place like Study.com
Online colleges check everything with papers now. You barely do any quizzes. Everything is a paper, because anyone can read a paper and figure out if you did the reading or if you understand the concepts. You can't BS your way through 3,000 words like you can multiple choice.
I have something like 8 Study.com courses completed except for the papers so I get it but you just have to learn to get to it. Get an idea, do an outline, pick some sources and churn it out, over and over until you stop minding it so much. I did 1500 words yesterday afternoon and I'm planning on doing 4000 today or tomorrow. It doesn't have to change the reader's life or be the best paper ever, you just have to make yourself do it. The one I did yesterday could have been three times as good if I'd spent another day on it, but I'm not going to spend another day on it because I have more papers to write today. And that's fine.
Also your Master's degree is even more writing, btw.

Kevie,
My previous bachelors degree was through COSC- it's a good institution and really tries to be as flexible as possible to meet the needs of its students, with that said they do work to keep their curriculum updated and competitive- yeah it's sucks but certainly could be worse (ask anyone who was a student at ITT tech in 2016)... you can literally SEE the finish line, and it really doesn't get much better than SDC- I did the SDC project management which wasn't too terrible overall... knocked out the written assignment over a weekend- additionally, if for some reason you score lower than you'd like/need, you can resubmit without having to redo the entire course- zero to be weary about with SDC, find what you need, make like Nike and Just Do It!
Good luck!

Negative comments about SDC turned me off initially. It was when I realized how much insane busy work was going to be required weekly in TESU's Meteorology course that I broke down and did it on SDC (it literally took 3 days). After the ease of that experience I added a second AoC to my degree and completed 8 more courses on SDC in 5 weeks.
SDC is fantastic for accelerating your way through a degree program. Sophia is also great and hopefully will add upper level options, but until they do SDC is the best game in town.

Its easy to get stuck because you want it to be perfect, or you dread doing it and having it turn out poorly, or whatever.
But honestly it's just a paper. I mean if it sucks then so be it. I promise you that no one is obsessing about the mediocre paper they turned in 2 months ago, once it's done you just move on so there's no reason to fear it. Just do it and if it sucks then turn it in anyway as long as you think it'll pass. I mean I do them all the time and go "I really should change this and delete that and etc" and then I go "nope!" and turn it in. It's not going to define your life, it's just a little paper.
The hardest thing for me to do when I started writing stuff for college when I went back as an adult was turning in work that I knew I could improve on, because I know I can write. But it's just not worth it if you're working full time and have kids and all that to take the extra time to make it perfect. Don't do 5 drafts of some throw away assignment to get it just right. Do "good enough" and move on with your life.

I'm not sure how SDC Project Man - Bus 311 transfers to COSC but it just transferred as upper level for me at TESU. I took this when I saw Sophia wouldn't work anymore.
It has no written papers. Just one assignment (Create a slide presentation for an event).

According to SDC, it transfers in as MGT 460 - business elective. https://study.com/directory/school/Chart...ransferTab

Not really intimidated by the papers, just have a lot of them on my plate now. I have already completed 11 SDC courses mostly upper level since I already had the associates. I am currently working on 3 UL at SDC and the COSC cornerstone, so I am just bogged down with all of the writing. After these, though, it's onto Capstone and done!

I have 11 study.com courses completed along with the assignments, so it's really not a matter of not handling it. I just have a lot of writing with 3 SDC upper levels in progress, along with COSC cornerstone I am taking now, so I was just disappointed to learn that I need an additional upper level. My last assignment completed for SDC was a required 3-5K, mine was closer to the 5k, just to be sure I touched on all of the topics. I probably overthink and over-research the assignments, but I want to do the best work that I can. That paper was 20 pages not including references pages, so I think I'll be okay for the capstone.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I have really liked the COSC staff and the professor for my current class there. After these 4 courses I am taking now, it's onto the capstone, so I can see the light. I was actually referring to Sophia, though, when I said that they need to update their course transfer list. COSC has been great - they are responsive and really try to work with their students.

I would definitely welcome a project of some kind that isn't a writing assignment - just to change things up a bit. Thanks for the info!
