I got full marks on the first two touchstones (written then oral). On the third, I got 0/100! The weird thing is that the same person marked both papers.
Comments from the grader:
- Tasks are very incomplete. Ideas are missing or they are irrelevant, and the minimum word count is not met. Word count is 150 - 200. My word count is 155.
- No knowledge of the words studied in this unit is shown, either because no studied words are used or because they are consistently used incorrectly. I used the first touchstone submission where I scored full marks as a basis to create the second one, i.e. I re-used some of the content.
- The grammar is inadequate or has not been studied in this course. The work is incomplete or incomprehensible. Same level of grammar used as first touchstone submission.
- Ideas are completely disconnected. There is a total lack of accents and more than half of the composition contains spelling, capitalization, and punctuation errors. There isn't a single spelling error and all the words contain accents.
This has taken my total score down to 74% so I have to perform extremely well in the final two touchstones to score above 70% in total. Can anything be done about this?

You can appeal using the help chat or email and ask for a senior grader to review.

My son had a similiar problem. Use the chat feature and they can re-open it or send it to another grader for review.

@FM1, Appeal, chat/email their support so they can get someone to resolve this for you, another option is that they can get another grader too if needed for the second review of your touchstone. Sometimes mistakes are made and the 0 may have been a different grade and was entered incorrectly, who knows, your only option is to get assistance to move forward on this...

The head grader has reset the submission but has asked that I re-do the assignment from scratch. Not a great use of time but at least my scores are better now.

I've had issues with Sophia's Spanish graders, too. Karen, I think her name was, was the first one I had, and she was amazing and super helpful. Fernando's corrections, however, were all over the place and inaccurate. When I appealed to the head grader, Darren, I was treated poorly. I got the impression that no one wanted to admit that "mistakes were made." Super annoying.
Current Goal:
UMPI: B.L.S. with minor in Educational Studies
I'm 73% through my degree!
Earned: 88 credits total
RA: 3 credits
Sophia: 76 credits
Study.com: 6 credits
UMPI: 3 credits

The main thing is you get over 70% for the entire course to get the ACE credit, I would just make sure to give it a good effort to make sure you're doing well...

Interestigly, it was Karen who gave me full marks for the first two exams with great feedback and guidance but she then went on to give me a zero for the next assignment with quite harsh comments. Darren was actually quite helpful.

I had a tough time with Sophia's feedback being all over the place. So I started attaching the PREVIOUS grader's notes to my assignment "resubmission" and magically my grade/scores improved.

For whatever reason, the graders will sometimes attach someone else's assignment grade to your course. I've had that happen to me before. I got a 0 and a ding for not even including my name in the assignment, but I always name my assignments something like Touchstone 4 - MY NAME HERE or MY NAME HERE - Touchstone 4. When I checked to be sure, the document returned wasn't my document.
