Hi! I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on this CLEP test, I am going to be using the comex book, and the Official CLEP study guide. Will that be enough? Also I was wondering if the Instacert is helpful or not. Thanks!

Hello, student m,
Social Sciences & History is like Humanites: broad and shallow. Do you have a lot of prior knowledge of history? Have you taken any other history CLEPs? I found that my knowledge of history helped me a lot on this one. The Comex book should aid you in this regard.
I found that the best way to prepare for this exam was by taking practice tests. You already have one in the CLEP Official Guide. There are two more in the free Peterson's CLEP Success book, plus a review section (which I did not use):
http://www.petersons.com/pdf/free/CLEPSuccess.pdf
Check out your library for REA's general test study guide with tests. Kaplan and Princeton Review also put out guides for the general exams. Princeton Review's practice test was a lot like the real deal.
If you want to use IC for anything, I would recommend reviewing the Sociology flashcards. It seems like there is a lot of that on SS&H, plus Sociology mentions psychology occasionally - two for the price of one. If you read all the cards once or twice, it should improve your score by a couple points.
Hope it goes well,
R.

If I were you I would check out the Psychology instantcert and maybe a little american government. I used CLEP prep book and Princeton review Book too. I tried and failed horribly at the Petersons for this one I think my % went something like 51-43-37. But I did fine on the actual exam.
Good Luck

Woah, yeah, you'll be
just fine. Just take a few practice tests to brush up. I hadn't taken a history exam for about a year, but it was all still up there (somewhere).
Take a glance at psych and it sounds like you have a shot at a very good score. Good luck!
