Shmoop Literature Courses Overview

Have you found one for around $500? The cheapest I can find is around $800 and some of them require you to hire your own proctor for multiple exams. That could potentially raise the cost even more. I transferred Bible as Lit in but it didn't come in as non-western lit (then again I wasn't in the English degree). I'll go ahead and ask advising. I've already tried to get a World Survey course approved this week but they said no.

TESU confirmed that the College of Dupage Non-Western Literature online course (ENGLI2262) will count. However, it is a 200-level course. Course cost is $463 plus $20 application fee. 22+ACT score or College Comp 2 is required as a prerequisite. 12 Week course, offered in Fall and Spring. Uses 4 books: Eva Luna, Waiting for the Barbarians, The God of Small Things, Things Fall Apart. Class activities will include weekly discussion, short essay responses, and contributions to our collective online scrapbook (or “wiki”).

I've done World Geography, Human Sexuality, 3 history courses, and Film Studies.

Both the geography and sexuality were not difficult for me (other than the usual shmoop migraine for searching out broken links, and obscure things nobody in their right mind would ever ask or quote, etc). 

Geography had a lot of things I already knew. I love to play geography games and love history so it was not difficult, but not easy as in a fly by. If that makes sense?

Sexuality was basic biology sex-ed, making STDs out to be no big deal, just treat them and carry on sexually, and a ton of pro abortion stuff (not kidding- many, many chapters!).. and oh yeah a tiny small chapter that actually says the most expensive and LAST option on the table if one is pregnant, but the one that is most burdensome and costly and heavy duty... is keeping the baby... Yeah, it was that blatant! They actually labelled that chapter as "the last option"! Whatever anyone's ideas on it, you do not ever refer to keeping your baby as "the last option" and make it be this cumbersome duty that will cost most of your money and restrict your every move (yes, they did put it almost like that!)... Let's get real here... But then, I have had a child killed and I would do anything to get her back,  so a child's life is something I don't treat so casually!  ...my 2 cents... BUT, that said, if you are immersed in american/european culture, you'll be able to pass this fairly easily and quickly.

Film Studies was passable, but not easy for me. It asks a lot of technical things and then all these touchy-feely questions about the Fight Club movie which has multiple correct answers to choose from, as shmoop is known to do... I am not into that. My daughter said she would have passed easily, when I showed her. LOL Just depends on your interests.

Geometry is easy if you already know Geometry 

The History ones are kind of hard, even if you already know history. They are kind of like the Literature courses, but not as bad.

Kind of! I think they had some typos so I don't think there was a correct answer for at least 2 or 3 questions!

Do you need them to be UL? If not, then I would suggest Bible as Literature. Shakespeare's Plays is UL. I found both of them to be quite straightforward.
