I'm not sure. BTW, it's only considered 2 credits at ACE. Mathematics II also.

Did you ever email this petition? I would love to get an English degree but I don't think $500ish for Nonwestern Lit plus the Capstone would be worth it to me. ndelcollo Wrote:Did you ever email this petition? The cheapest I can find is around $800 and some of them require you to hire your own proctor for multiple exams. That could potentially raise the cost even more. I transferred Bible as Lit in but it didn't come in as non-western lit (then again I wasn't in the English degree). I'll go ahead and ask advising. I've already tried to get a World Survey course approved this week but they said no.

I was looking through old threads last night about the course and people were showing different courses for around $500-$600. The threads were mostly from 2012-2014 so those courses may be much more by now. I didn't go to any of the links that were provided. If you google "non-western literature site:degree forum" a bunch of old threads will show. $800 would really suck if that was the cheapest.

In one of the threads I saw, someone was able to get a World Lit approved for the requirement, but others were denied. There is World Lit I and II at New Mexico Junior College that maybe could fulfill the slot? It certainly won't hurt to ask and could save a bunch of money. If I'm reading the fees right, the cost would be a little under $300 for one of those courses. Tuition and Fees - New Mexico Junior College

I didn't end up emailing, because I found another thread where someone had tried the same thing and been denied. I'm satisfied with the BALS Humanities, and just ready to be done now to be honest
TESU BALS Humanities, thanks to this place!

If this is an issue, it might not hurt to suggest to Shmoop that they need one more course.

Well, in the last week I've tried to get World Lit courses from several different colleges approved and shmoop's Bible as Lit approved as a non-western literature course. They said no to all of them. They said it has to specifically be something like "African literature" or "Asian literature". Even if the World Lit courses are broken up and one is more eastern than western it is still a no-go. Honestly after trying to research this for about a week now I haven't found anything fast or cheap. Even the self-paced ones have proctoring issues or require that you can't submit more than one lesson a week and some of the grading options take 2-3 weeks and you can't proceed past a certain point until everything is graded. It is such a headache. I really, really wish study.com; straighterline or shmoop would just add this one requirement.

I was going to ask them myself about a few, but anytime I ask about anything not related to the BSBA they always blabber on about a Master's instead of a second Bachelor's and end up not answering my question. This is a real bummer to hear though. |
