Hey you got till the end of the month to bust out a couple classes. A couple of the literature courses only have four sections/tests, then a final. I think if you sign up for their monthly subscription, take a class for college and submit to ACE it might still work. Want me to guinea pig it?

I really appreciate the offer, but it’s a waste if they don’t end up taking them. I’m talking to the admissions councilor today, so I’ll hopefully know more soon.

The strange thing is that they have courses that are still ACE-recommended for a long time; they literally just went through a big ACE review last year, and re-evaluated a bunch of their courses, and even added 6 new ones. 16 courses expire 6/30/22, 9 expire 11/30/22, and 1 new one expires 1/31/23, which means that they did this as late as maybe November of last year. And ACE-recommendation is EXPENSIVE!
I understand wanting to stop doing this at some point, but wouldn't you continue to make the courses available and let the program die by attrition, rather than actively putting an end to it? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I like choices but I fail to see what Shmoop offers that Sophia and SDC do not. I also find the name they choose moronic.

Lots of literature courses like bible, drugs, Shakespeare and more that I haven't seen anywhere else. If TESU took them this would make an English degree easy and this used to be the case.
Also there geometry is ACE recommended as UL. Also film studies, human sexuality, pop culture literacy, history of technology, andintro to drama.
So yeah they a good amount of courses I haven't seen anywhere else the issue is none of the big 3 accept them as far as I know (and WGU doesn't accept them either). If only someone accepted them...
But as of right now the ace credit section of shmoop website is dead.
Personally I tried the free trial just fun and didn't like it. Cancelled before I to pay anything.

Well it looks the only ones who can take Shoomp courses are ones who are already enrolled. So I doubt they'd take until 2022 to finish them.

Specifically, I was looking at the Business Writing, Journalism, and Professional Writing courses. I've seen Technical writing elsewhere, but not those exact courses.

Their name and tone has definitely contributed to their downfall.
Them ending their ace affiliation now makes it seems like they are going out on their own terms, when it reality as mentioned, no one takes their offerings seriously.
Come on, "I got my education from schmoop", why would you want to put your customer in a position to get clowned if they use your product?

I don't necessarily think that Shmoop is a bad name in and of itself. IMO, just going by names, Study.com sounds way more dubious. But their tone and the lack of any sort of proctoring (at least at the beginning) definitely were contributing factors. At least Sophia has some sort of authentication.

Hmm, that is an interesting statement.
I'm curious why you feel that Study.com seems more dubious as an alternative education provider than Shmoop? Shmoop sounds like a joke name to me... like someone lost a bet and was forced to use a name their 4-year-old came up with. On the other hand, Study.com sounds like a business focused on education... though it sounds more like a tutoring site than an alternative credit provider.
In any case, Study.com sounds far more legit and professional than Shmoop to me.

Study.com sounds like a name made up by someone who decided to do domain parking one day and then decided to start conning people into thinking they were getting college credits rather than selling the name off. Shmoop is a ridiculous business name, yes, but it is at least a business name. Study.com just feels too generic and, IMO, scammy. Obviously, it is not a scam. But it feels like it could be.
