A few months ago someone tried taking CSU Global's SSA exams and wasn't allowed to because they weren't a student. I asked my advisor about this a few months ago and was told I had to pay for and take a class to be able to take SSA exams.

FYI, Saylor is nearly back to their former offerings. Almost all of their direct credit exams and ACE endorsements have returned. Several of the credits mentioned here can be earned at Saylor.

That is great to hear. I was doing certificates on their site a few months ago and it seemed like they had given up.

I think someone found a workaround? Like they enrolled, but then didn't register for a class? Or registered for a class, then signed up for SSA's, then dropped the class before the deadline? Can't remember, but they were able to take the SSA without taking a class.

I remember that thread, but I can't find it. I don't remember anyone ever concluding whether it actually worked or not. There was also concern about how the credits were transcripted and if they could be transferred out. There's the risk that they could treat their exam credits like Strayer does with their challenge exams, where they are transcripted as transfer credits and cannot be transferred out. CSU Global does have several exams relevant to my degree plan, so I'd be interested in pursuing them in the future.
Edit: found this thread from some years back where several members seemingly successfully transferred CSU CBE credits to TESU: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...and-Design

I remember the person spoke with their advisor and they were not allowed to take the SSA. I don't remember who it was though.
I read through some of the thread you shared from 2015. They no longer have CSU CBE. Seems like it became the SSA. In my 8 months there, they were making changes to several of the SSA's. A few were discontinued. The website doesn't say anything about transferring the course outside of CSU either which is kind of interesting.
