Need 8 credits for Pierpont BOG AAS, right?

So I need eight credits for Pierpont's BOG AAS, as far as I can tell, and three of them need to be in Social Sciences.


So a) can someone verify that's correct? and b) Can someone give me a suggestion for cheap/easy/fast credits?

My credits are all from community college:
General Ed:
Success & study skills                     (1)
Intro to Chemistry plus Lab             (4)
Anatomy & Physiology                    (5)
Introduction to Computers              (3)
Life Span Development -Psychology (3)
Expository Writing                          (3)

Nursing focused:
Practical Nursing I                         (11)

Communications: Should be covered by Expository Writing
Computer Literacy: Covered by Intro to Computers
Social Sciences: Probably covered by Life Span Development

If you're planning to continue on to a Bachelor's degree (even if not immediately), I would suggest taking the following from Sophia: US History I, College Algebra, and Intro to Ethics. You may want to take Ancient Greek Philosophers to make Ethics easier.

Yes, the plan is to go for the Bachelors, but I honestly need the Associates for a) a slight bump in pay, and b) motivation to keep going. 
My eventual goal is the Masters of Public Health offered by ACE. While I love being a nurse, I hated nursing school so much --the entire culture of it-- that I don't want to pursue anything further of the food chain in Nursing itself.

Looking at the ACE MPH, you're supposed to have a Bachelor's in PH or a Bachelor's with at least 9 credits in PH or any Bachelor's with 3 years of employment in PH.

If you have the experience, I would suggest "any" degree from UMPI. Possibly the BSBA Management & Leadership. Whatever interests you.

If you don't have the experience, I don't believe that there are any inexpensive Bachelor's degrees in Public Health. But getting 9 credits in Public Health should be (relatively) easy. XAMK has some credits that may count: https://www.xamk.fi/en/openstudies/ There are also some Coopersmith courses that should count as Public Health. In which case, you'd get a TESU degree. TESU degrees allow for plenty of electives, so the XAMK and Coopersmith credits would be sure to show up on the transcript.

Or you can take a few inexpensive Public Health classes from some random US college/university and transfer them to UMPI. Study.com has Health 101: Principles of Health which UMPI counts as Health 101: Intro to Public Health. https://study.com/college/school/umpi.html I don't think any of Study.com's health courses count as Public Health at TESU, though I could be mistaken.

@timeinawrinkle, where did you go for nursing school? Was it an NA or RA institution? If it's RA, depending on the courses, some may transfer into the Pierpont AAS, if not, some will go towards the Bachelors, it may even ladder up to the BPH at Walden. Focus on the AAS, ladder to the Bachelors and then decide on the Masters.

There are competency based options, it doesn't necessarily need to be the new ACE.edu program unless you really want to go for the MPH there, you can research others such as Walden for example as well as they have an MHA, you can ladder that up from their BPH I just mentioned. I would work on one thing at a time while deciding...

If UMPI is a possible bachelor path, I would recommend that the OP also take Spanish I & Biology (without lab) to cover those while they have the active subscription.

Human Biology from Sophia isn't needed for UMPI. The "Biological Science" requirement for UMPI is covered by Anatomy & Physiology. Spanish is a good idea, though.

Thanks for the response! There's a reason I've been lurking this forum for quite some time. Besides my ADHD and inaction, that is. Experience isn't an issue BUT I also think it does not hurt to grab a couple of generic health, non-nursing classes. I'll look around and see what else I can find!

It was RA so I shouldn't have any issues with transfer, other than schools trying to figure out where to fit it.

I appreciate the reminders to work on one thing at a time. Like many others, I suffer from "all or nothing" syndrome. It's one of the reasons I decided to pursue an associates. One step at a time, I must remind myself.
