Schools that will give a free/cheap credit evaluation

My son was almost finished with his degree at the University of Oklahoma when covid hit. He decided to come home and go to work during all of the uncertainty. He has a great job that he loves now and he doesn't want to quit his job and waste the money to go back on campus to finish up his degree. He needed approximately 15 credits to finish his B.B.A in Sports Business at that school, so we figured it would be easy to finish up online. Unfortunately, because the classes are online, he would have to switch the University of Oklahoma Extension Campus. They are requiring a 30 credit residency even though he has 107 credits through the University of Oklahoma and they are just generally making things as difficult as possible. At this point, he just wants a back up. He loves his job and the degree is not required, he's just too close to let it go. 

Are there schools that will evaluate his transcript and help us come up with a plan to finish without enrolling? I don't want to spend thousands in enrollment fees just to figure out the most efficient way to do this.

Is he ok with a degree in business and not sport business? If yes, then UMPI may be for him. He will need to complete 30 credits at UMPI. This will be true for pretty much every school because of the residency requirements they have with accreditation.

They won't help him with a plan without enrolling. I can't see any school doing this for a nonstudent.

A business degree from TESU or EC may also be an option. May not be as fast or as inexpensive as UMPI, but that all depends on how quickly get gets through classes.

If a BALS will do, TESU, Excelsior, or Charter Oak will work. TESU and COSC will accept up to 114 credits in transfer. Excelsior will accept up to 113 credits. If he wants business administration, either TESU or COSC should work (depending on exactly what credits he has). But he might need more credits for a business administration degree than a BALS degree (again, depending on exactly what he has).

TESU's application fee is $50 + $50 for the Medical Terminology TECEP if you have more than one transcript to be evaluated.

COSC's application fee is $50.

Excelsior is free to apply right now.

There is also UMPI's YourPace program. They do require 30 credits of residency but they are a competency-based program. This means that you pay what is essentially a "subscription fee" and you're permitted to take as many credits as you can during that term. Depending on how much free time he has to devote to his studies, the 30 credits could be done in 2-3 terms (4-6 months) for a total of $2800-4200.

With the exception of UMPI, none of the schools will give you a "plan" that will allow you to finish quickly and cheaply. Although they accept providers like Study.com, for monetary reasons they want you to take classes at their institution. Which is understandable. Pick a school, pick a degree, and we can help you fill in the gaps that the school doesn't provide.

He doesn't care what the degree is. He just wants the piece of paper in case he needs it down the road. The priority is finding the easiest route.

The absolute easiest would probably be from one of the Big 3 (COSC, Excelsior, TESU). But he still needs to pick a specific degree.

TESU isn't the cheapest but I would suggest a degree from them solely because once they evaluate your credits then it's easy to use their "what if" tool to see if your credits are a better fit for a different degree. For instance, he might apply for a BSBA Marketing but it turns out that he's actually closer to a BSBA GM degree. Or a Liberal Studies degree. But he'll need to apply and then reply here with the results of his evaluation so we can make suggestions. He could be finished with a TESU degree in as few as 3 months from now.

The easiest route is to complete the remaining courses elsewhere and transferring it back into Univ of OK. It's best to copy/paste his evaluation, if his credits work for another degree other than Sports Business/Sports Management, then he can get a BA in something like liberal studies. So again, copy/paste his evaluation and any CLEP or AP, alternative credits, etc, we want all possible credits he has. The more info we know, the better the recommendation, going to another school for 16 credits to graduate is great but it's going to cost more and take more energy/time to complete....

Yes they accept those number of credits but that doesn't mean you're filling all of the degree requirements. That's the issue unfortunately. He should join the forum and post his completed courses so advice can be given based on what he has completed. Without know what he has completed we're all just shooting darts into the air at nothing really. He should also join so he can ask questions which he will have especially as he starts researching this. We've all been there! It's a LOT to take in especially at the beginning with countless people throwing ideas your way. 

UMPI's application is also free. There are no fees at all except the $1400 tuition per term.
