Schools that accept ACE credits and allow 90cr in transfer
#21
On the NA side:

University of the People Transfer: 45 associate, 90 bachelor, 18 master. They accept RA, NA, ACE, AP, CLEP, foreign.

The other 30 credits (10 courses) will need to be through UotP, and are only available in 8-week terms, 5 terms per year. I believe you can only take 2 courses 1st term, possibly 3 per term after that.

What about Purdue University Global Open University Bachelor's of Professional Studies?

I got off the phone with them with a degree plan that counts AWS Solutions Architect Associate + W3Schools PHP Certificate for NINETY (90!!!) quarter credits. They clear the entire major requirements plus about a 1/3 of the electives. A moderately difficult IT cert and a stupid simple one counts for half of a Bachelor's.

They are potentially giving me the rest of it with a combination of PLA + TEEX Cybersecurity ACE and Saylor/Google Support Cert to fill in any gaps from PLA.

Cost is flat at $199 a month for the remaining residency requirements + $100 a test. Total expected cost of tuition/fees is $5000. With cert costs and training that puts it at well under $10000 and more like $8000.

Where do you find the $199/mo + $100/test?  And can you speed through this, or do you have to do 45 quarter credits at 10 weeks per course?

Their Open College programs are $195/mo + $100/assessment + a $2,200 capstone (for the BS, the AS might have a cheaper capstone is $1,855). Only applies to the AS/BS in Professional Studies. I believe the open courses are self-paced, but I have no idea how scheduling the assessments works.

To schedule the PANeLs and the self paced you will have an advisor that help you schedule. Then you pay the $195.00 PANeL fee and you can start.

For PLA, the course itself is 'free', but there's a $1500 cost for the portfolio assessment. Does this include a certain number of credits, or is each PLA credit also an additional cost? It's not super clear from the website.

Is it $1,500 for each course in PLA? That's an expensive class! Even 1 class at $1,500 is quite spendy.

Not sure. I *think* that's just the cost for a one-time portfolio creation, which is why I'm wondering if it include a number of credits for PLA (or maybe even unlimited?), or if those would also have to be paid for separately.

If the latter, then that 1500USD fee is really a course fee, which seems an underhand way of charging for a 'free' course.
I can't find much info on their website that would clarify this. If it's unlimited PLA credits, this would be a good deal for those with heaps of professional experience.

I am curious about the pricing. My husband asked his advisor about completing PLA courses instead of some of the courses. his advisor told him not to bother with them because they would take longer than the classes. They're a serious of projects and papers. He's definitely moving much faster in his ExcelTrack than he would writing a ton of papers.

The PLA course is a one time thing. What is confusing is that there is PLA for ExcelTrack/traditional semester and another for the Open College program. You can theoretically get 75% of your degree through the PLA course but I doubt that'll happen.

There site isn't very clear, but here is what the Operations Manager for the program told me: Once you enroll in the program they start getting credit from your previous school, certificates, and ACE credit. If you enroll in the Open College program they don't charge the $1500 at all per the Ops manager. Everyone has to do the PLA course in the Open College program. I'm still not entirely clear but it doesn't seem as intensive a PLA's elsewhere. According to the site, the average person gets 36+ quarter credits from the course.

I'm asking for more clarification on how the PLA for Open College works but I don't think it's the same as having to write big 15-20 page papers like you would at TESU:

START COURSE
LRC100: Pathway to College Credit - Portfolio Development
ABOUT THIS COURSE:

This self-paced course is designed to help you earn undergraduate credit at Purdue Global for learning acquired outside of the classroom. This comprehensive course guides you through the process of creating an online experiential learning portfolio to showcase your learning from the workplace, volunteering, military training, etc. Try the PLA Calculator to see if your experience makes you a good fit.

COURSE AT A GLANCE:

This course is divided into the following modules:

1. Introduction to Building Your Portfolio
2. Educational Goal Statement
3. Identify Your Learning Experiences
4. Expanded Resume
5. Course Petitions -- it appears you can put in as many of these as you want as long as you can back them up with a resume, references and supporting documents
6. Learning Autobiography
7. Supporting Documentation
8. Portfolio Review

Open College and ExcelTrack aren't the same thing. The sense I've gotten over the phone and through email is they are extremely generous in trying to get individuals through the BPSr program in an effort to get them into the Graduate program. Purdue Global's website doesn't explain the programs very well.
