Schools that accept ACE credits and allow 90cr in transfer

This seems sticky-worthy. Actually, getting an updated version of this every year would be nice! I have a group of teens I am currently trying to help with finishing HS and gaining college credits. This is really perfect for getting them to look at college options.

I love the original post, and agree that we should create a sticky for it at the top.  Maybe change the title to "Schools that take 90cr of transfer and ACE" or something like that?

That is a bit of a loaded statement. Degree planning for WGU can actually be more straightforward and predictable than TESU in some ways since the list of credits they accept changes less frequently and transfer equivalencies are published and updated quickly when they do change. You can easily transfer in the max available credits for your degree if you're using credit providers that have articulation agreements with WGU (such as Study.com and Straighterline) and you stick to the courses that have established transfer equivalencies.

Of course, if you're trying to transfer courses from other colleges or alternative ACE providers, then yes, it can be a bit of hit or miss. It is important to understand that a transfer course will not always fulfill the same competencies as a WGU course just because it is similarly-named. This is usually what gets most people upset when they don't see the credits they expect.

The other rub is that WGU has some odd courses that are fairly unique to the school and are very unlikely to be transferred in. I just add those to the list of nontransferable credits for the degree when coming up with the list of courses to take.

It is VERY difficult with many of WGU's degrees to try to transfer in 90 credits. They simply don't have alternatives for many of their core courses in several degrees. Like I said that because it's CBE and a flat tuition rate for 6 months, it's not nearly as big of a deal to try to transfer in the 90 credits.

You can transfer in 90 credits to UMPI as well. You're limited to 30 ACE credits though. Many schools have ACE credit limits.

Capella and Strayer also accept ACE credits.

WGU doesn't have an approved directory or provider list, they accept RA, NA and ACE, evaluated foreign credits - no NCCRS

I'd also add to WGU: no degree has free electives, degrees are 25-30% GE and 70-75% major, some degrees require more than 30cr that must be taken at WGU

There are additional schools that we could list that take 90cr of transfer, I have 11 of them: CSU-Global, Franklin University, Granite State College, Liberty University, SNHU, SUNY-Empire, University of Maryland Global Campus, Upper Iowa University, Wilmington University, Purdue University Global, AMU/APU.

Any news with TESU on study.com credits?

That list doesn't mean that courses aren't accepted from other providers. TESU constantly makes changes. They have 2 lists and Sophia is on the second list. Just review their website on a regular basis.

Not being able to find alternative credits to fill out a full 90 credit transfer isn't the same as your original statement which suggested that WGU is a difficult place to transfer credits to. I just wanted to make sure people don't get the wrong impression.

Yes, some degree programs won't allow you to transfer in 90 credits because they have more than 30 credits of required courses. For some degrees, alternative courses may not exist, as I mentioned above. But, that really isn't that much different than any other college out there. But for other degrees, you can transfer in 90 credits with room to spare. It just depends on the degree.

That said, WGU is very consistent on what they do accept and they do a good job of publishing equivalencies for courses that fall within their articulation agreements. This, at least in my opinion, makes them one of the easier schools to plan for alternative credits. TESU on the other hand is the worst for transparency. They change the rules for what is or is not accepted and how courses will be evaluated way too much. Plus they don't publish those changes, which makes it hard for people to plan for their degree programs.

Agreed. In fact, you can generally complete courses at SDC and SL about as quickly as you can complete comparable courses from WGU. So not being able to transfer in 90 credits isn't a big deal at all. In fact, I usually recommend that unless they have a ton of existing RA credits, people should aim to take at least 60 credits with WGU if they have any plans to pursue a graduate degree from somewhere other than WGU in the future. For grad schools that verify prerequisite courses or require a minimum transfer GPA, you'll want as many RA credits (particularly in the major/core) on your transcript as possible since ACE credits will be ignored. If your prereq courses are from ACE, schools will consider it as if you have not taken them at all. Before you will be officially admitted they will require you to retake those "leveling courses" from them (usually requiring at least a B), and you'll be charged extra for those courses.
