Has anyone taken study.com's public speaking course since it was upgraded to 3 credits? I can see there's 3 graded assignments along with the quizzes and proctored exam.
How difficult was it and how long did it take to have the projects graded? thanks.

I'm curious too. I plan to start this course here by the end of the week. My next exam doesn't open up until March 10 so my plan is to go ahead and finish all the quizzes and assignments now. Hopefully everything will be graded before I take the final on March 10.

Just to follow up, I started this yesterday and have completed 40% of the quizzes already. The material so far is ridiculously easy. It's basic common sense. Quizzes count for 100 points so that helps the overall grade. I hope to start the speeches sometime over the weekend so I'll see how those get graded. They do say you can go ahead and take the final even without the speeches grades. And if you don't like the scores you can resubmit those. So I'm not too worried. The speeches don't sound too hard. The biggest thing might just be making sure all your sources are sited correctly. But they give you guidelines on that too.

I've been wondering about this too as I am going to start this course very soon. I noticed that the speeches are supposed to have visual aids like a powerpoint or poster boards but that sounds like a lot of extra work and it only gets you 5 points extra at best. I'm considering submitting my speeches without visual aids and then if I need the extra points that bad after my test then I could just resubmit them. The grading chart technically says that have no visual aids at all will give you 0/5 points on that (visual aids) section but I'm afraid the omitting them completely will make me look lazy and possibly hurt my score on the rest of it too

I did the course when it was only worth 2 credits and only had 1 speech. I did very basic powerpoint slides and they were fine. The slides maybe took me 15 minutes to throw together.

Sort of off topic but I didn't want to start another thread for such a quick question. Does anyone know if there is a MINIMUM required grade on the study.com final exams? So hypothetically if you got 100 points on the quizzes and 100 points on your projects (I know that's very unlikely just hypothetically) - Would you then be able to pass the whole course with only 10 questions correct on the final exam?

I believe on courses with 300 points you need 210 points. So if you get 100 points on the quizzes (which is pretty doable since you have three attempts on each) then you only need 110 points more - basically 55 on the speeches and 55 on the final or some combination thereof.

Anyone submitted speeches yet? How did you feel about the grading? I tried to submit the first speech yesterday but it wouldn't go through. It might have been because I was in my free trial (I had to start a second account because the scholarship account doesn't allow extra exams). I'm going to try again today. I just need to record my second speech and the write and record the last one.

Just an update. I started this course during the five-day free trial and got all the quizzes completed and speeches recorded during the trial. When it unlocked on the 21st I submitted all three speeches and took the final that day (around 11 p.m.).
I added the course to ACE for review on the 21st as well (even though I wasn't expecting to see it approved for a while).
I got the notification from ACE this morning that everything was graded and reviewed. Sure enough, I went into my dashboard and it was updated. I took this course expecting it to take a couple of weeks for the assignments to be graded and it ended up taking one business day!
As far as ease of the course, it was pretty easy. I have to admit, I was sick this week and didn't put much effort into it at all. I wasn't really interested in the material so I was kind of rushing through it. I was also trying to get two other classes finished at the same time. I had 100% on the quizzes so I knew I only needed 55% on the speeches and 55% on the final exam. That really took the pressure off. I ended up scoring well on both the assignments and the exam despite my lack of interest/time/etc. I would say it was probably one of the easiest courses I've taken so far. So if anyone is worried about it, I would say, don't be. It's a gen ed course you just need to get through to check the box.

I'm about to do the speeches but I'm so confused on the power point. It shows how you can submit the power point but how do they know when during your speech to flip through the slides? Or does that not matter?
