Record for most CLEPS/Credits/DSSTs in one day?
#1
Do we currently have a record for most CLEPs/DSSTs taken in one day/week/month and a similar record for most credits? Part of me just wants to know for entertainment purposes and another part of me wants to make a go at the record :p.

I think Lawrie Miller is the reigning champ. gcalvin's probably second?

My stats:

Most exams in one day: 4
Most exams in one week: 4
Most exams in one month: 8
Total exams for credit:52 passed, three failed

Edit to add: It adds up to almost 200 credits, but it's really more like 170 because of duplication from the GRE exams

I've never seen anything like this on this forum, but it sounds like fun. I'm certain that I don't hold any records--but I can at least help get this started so those who have topped me can post and we can get closer to the record holder.

My personal record is four (4) exams in one day for a total of fifteen (15) credits. It was my favorite day of testing--as it was a semester in a day!

Here's what it looked like:

AM
CLEP Psychology (3 cr.)

PM
CLEP A&I Literature (6 cr.)
DSST Principles of Supervision (3 cr.)
DSST Fundamentals of Counseling (3 cr.)

I usually take most of the time allowed per test--which I did on this particular day as well--except for the last one I think. Therefore, this record should be relatively easy to smash by those who take only an hour per test and are able to line up several of the six credit CLEPS. Better yet, if someone knocked off one of the 12 credit foreign language exams they could shoot for an entire YEAR in one day--a foreign language plus three (3) six-credit CLEPS. Let's see somebody hit THAT one!

If you are interested, you can click on any one of the exams listed above in my signature below to see more detail with regard to my best day of testing.

Or, someone could--theoretically--this upcoming October take a GRE exam in the morning for 30 credits, then take a foreign language exam in the afternoon for 42 credits in a single day!

Although this thread was started for the hares, I thought I would show that for some of us tortises the slow and steady method may still win our individual race.

I returned to try to finish at least some type of degree, so went to a B&M school and just could not see wasting time or money on a class that I knew a lot about. So my first CLEP was for Eng. Com w/Essay in April of 2007. Then regular classes were taken. End of 2008 I was planning on trying to take Principles of Supervision, as I had already finished the Principles of Mgmt, and both were required and they seemed redundant, so why waste time in a classroom. That is when I discovered IC. I did this in Early January 2009, while between B&M classes.

Thanks to you guys, I then had the courage to do Intro to Sociology and Environment and Humanity, during the spring break, before tackling Intermediate Algebra at the B&M school (had not done algebra in 42 years - Yikes).

Now, over the summer, rather than taking their classes I started doing CLEPS and DSSTs using a 2 weeks average between to study and prepare. Old brains work slower, ladies and gents, so please start this much earlier than I did. Smile

I have now accomplished over this time frame a total of 30 credits and have scheduled 2 more tests, for a total of 36 credits before I will have to return to some B&M, 8-week long courses that are mandated by my employer.

But...have no fear...I'm already planning what I will be studying simultaneously so I can schedule tests as fast as I feel like I can pass.

Remember, my original goal 2 years ago was an A.S. From this site I have learned about EC and am waiting to find out if I have already accomplished that and am well on my way to my BSLS ?? with total credits accrued to date, both through testing and B&M, of 73 as of 7/29/09 and anticipate having 79 by the August 24th. My mandated courses from my employer will be UL and that will add 10 credits -- 83. So, I will be planning what must be done to bring this puppy home with a goal of finishing within one year from signing on with EC.

Thanks to IC and all of you for making this possible, even for a tortise, in so much less time and at quite a savings.

Judy

I am most definitely a tortoise. My signature certainly speaks to that. I have a strong tendency to over-prepare for any and all tests. I just can't help it -- although I will admit to (again!), an absolute respect for and envious disposition towards, the "hares" on the board.

I just can't imagine how they are able to do it! But, if I could figure it out - I'd gladly join 'em! Big Grin

Wow and I thought the day I took two CLEPs was a lot!!! I took Information Systems and Computer Applications and got a 56, then took Precalculus and got a 68. Needless to say I was pretty happy that day.

4 tests a day though ... yikes. All I have to say is - good for you!!! Big Grin

My personal record is 3 tests in a day and 18 credits. Unfortunately, I can't do any better than that, as the test center that proctors for me can't schedule more than 3 - they start tests at 8am, 10am, and 2 pm. I have taken four tests in a week, for 24 total credits, because I took one at another test center at night. Hated the test center. Won't go back. I did 36 credit hours in a month. I'm at 42 as of yesterday. 6 didn't count as I took a test my college doesn't accept, but they still 'exist'.

It's *so* amazing to walk out thinking 'wow, there went a semester, and it's only lunchtime!'. I don't know about your schools, but mine charges $1360 for a 3-credit class; the week I did 24 credits, I realized that I had paid $360 for $10880 worth of credits. I wanted to go reward myself with a new car, but fortunately I resisted the temptation ;-)

One day: 2 tests (6 credits), but I did that on three occasions

One month: 10 tests (30 credits)

What can I say, I was impatient to finish!

The test center only allowed two tests per day; as I was paying $110 cash (via my check card) for each DSST, two a day was quite enough!
