Recognition of Execute Master
#1
Guys, there's a Master called the Execute Master. The most typical is EMBA. Is this master's degree equivalent to an official master's degree in Spanish-speaking areas? Is it equivalent to a master's degree in the United States and Canada?

I'm not sure what you mean.

The Executive MBA is a (usually) more expensive option that is targeted at working professionals whose company is paying for their MBA. They're traditionally a bit more flexible in things like meeting times and class assignments, because the students are assumed to be busy professionals. However, many regular MBAs these days have similar (if not better) flexibility.

If your company isn't paying for your MBA, there's often no reason for an EMBA. Otherwise, they're basically the same thing.

Recently I saw an EMsc degree from a Malaysian accredited university. Unfortunately, this degree is not accredited by MQA. It is not known whether it can be evaluated by a member of NACES. It would be another ENEB if it could.

It's great you're providing basic details, but without knowing the degree and the institution, we won't know how to assist you further. If the institution is accredited in Malaysia, generally it's enough. MQA is a qualification framework or register, this is very similar to what institutions in the UK have.

The phrasing "Execute Master" sounds like someone is being unalived. Execute and executive are 2 entirely different words with a drastically different meaning. I cannot imagine anyone wants a degree with the word execute in its title.

I could see several people wanting it just for the name. A lady in my ASU Thunderbird Space Leadership, Business, and Policy program I am at right now is a disaster relief specialist and mentioned that she wished she could find a Doctorate program in Disaster Relief/Preparedness so that she could say she was Dr. Disaster.

Sorry, I sent the wrong one earlier. Executive Master, indeed. The school is called Asia e University. It is a fully accredited university in Malaysia and is also on the WES list. But this master's degree is not recognized by MQA. I don't know if it counts as an official master's degree.

They're legit, yes, they don't need the Masters degree to be recognized or have MQA as their degree is already an official masters degree. I've written about this university, they've got PhD's I was looking into earlier, like last year or two years ago.

The only question is whether an Executive Master without MQA accreditation is an official master and can be accredited by WES or other NACES members. It would be great to have an answer to that question!  The Executive Master only costs a little over $1,000. If recognized by WES, this will be a highly cost-effective program.
