Question for people that have taken the A&I Lit essay
#1
Last week I took the A&I Literature test and scored a 71 on it. The person at the testing center said that I didn't need to take the essay portion for my school. After talking to my counselor at school, she said that I do need the essay portion in order to use it to meet a general ed requirement for my degree. The school has arranged for me to take the essay portion in six weeks. I know that it consists of two writing prompts, the first being an analysis of a passage that they give you. (I'm not worried about this portion)

What I'm worried about is the second prompt. The REA lists a few possibilities and they seem quite varied. I'm up on short stories but I haven't read any novels in a long time. I was wondering if anyone remembers their second prompt and if I could get some advice on what to read to prepare for this.

Thanks in advance, //Brian.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've already looked at the specific feedback thread for A&I Lit.... There is very little mention of the essay portion and no specifics.

I also searched the board and read every thread related to A&I Lit. There are no specifics regarding the essay prompts. I'm hoping that someone on the board has taken the essay portion of the exam and can give me some insight as to what to expect.

Thanks again for your suggestion.

I took the A and I Lit test and there was no essay section. The only one that I am aware of requiring an essay ia maybe Humanities

I oculd be wrong about that, but I know for sure with out a doubt that when i took Analyze and Interpret Literature in August 2008, there was no essay, and I just got confirmation last week form my University that I recieved all 6 credits.

Joe, Thanks for the reply. The essay portion of the exam is optional and not required by all schools. Unfortunatly, it is required by mine in order for me to use the exam to satisify the Lit general education requirement.

American Lit, English Lit, and Comp all have essay portions.
