Been a while since I took it, but from what I remember it's a very basic level of computer knowledge. Much like Intro to Computing, expect a mixture of the last few generations of computer technology, nothing nit-picky, but mostly the highlights of what was in common use. Good luck, and I'm sure someone with a more recent take will drop a line soon.

I took the DSST version, and was amazed at how out-of-date it was (which was probably why I had a really easy time passing it!). I mean, if you knew what you were doing on computers in 1990, you are golden. I would not have my kids take the DSST, as they would have NO CLUE what most of the stuff was on there. If you're under the age of 30, I would not recommend it without studying. It's more like a history course than a computer course. hilarious
Not sure how the CLEP compares, sorry. I did not use IC to study for it, but I recommend it.
