How valuable and relative is this for work? (trying to deprogram myself from the military and my bachelor's at this point).

The PMP certification is valued in the work place. The class itself is not valuable to employers without the certification , but it qualifies you to take the test (assuming you can prove experience managing projects -- which is pretty easy to do). I am not sure how well it prepares you for the content, but providing the necessary training is worth the $60 i believe. I am planning to buy (if another person does). At $99 I have other investments, at $60, I'm in.

I would put it as one of the most versatile business certifications I've seen.

I've spent far more money on far less important things (such as Playstation Network Cards), so I went ahead and bought it. My commander has actually been trying to get people trained up for things like this, and with my degree than I'm trying to decide now what to spend my time on, so thank you for this input.

I've been doing project management for years with no certification but I think getting certified would help validate my professional experience to other employers since I'm looking to make a career move.

If you meet the qualifications for the PMP, you only need to complete the sections on intro to project management, the pmp exam prep section, and pmp exam prep final exam to get your 35 contact hours. The rest can be done after you get certified for PDU credits.

The course is easy to navigate and moves quickly. I'm almost done with it.

What a wondeful tip, and opportunity, for all those able to take advantage. This is one of the main reasons this forum rocks, folks like you willing to share valuable information! I remember taking a 2-day offsite proj mgmt course years ago, followed by the advanced 1-day follow up a few months later. It was out of town, quite pricey and did not include anything near this software training/certification prep bundle.

The course has a section on what types of questions to expect, I'm not sure how accurate it is. According to the course, you need a 61% to pass and the pass rate is 68%. I wasn't planning to rely on the course alone. I plan to also read through the PMBOK, which is free to PMI members (I signed up for a one year student PMI membership for $32 since I'm enrolled at TESC) and I'll be able to get the member price when I sit the exam.
