Hello everyone,
I am currently finishing up a Medical Assistant program that will lead to certification as a clinical medical assistant by the NHA.
When I am done I will be working towards Pierpont’s BOG AAS with hopefully an emphasis in biology.
Does anyone know if Pierpont will apply my certification as credit towards the BOG AAS?
I did see that they have some degrees that will use the certification as an emphasis but I think you need to attend the school for some credits in order to get that. I want to just get my credits from study.com, Sophia, the one RA credit and walk away with an associates degree as fast as possible.
Thanks

You can do the Pierpont BOG AAS degree concurrently (or use the time to get the ASU 1 credit, Sophia.org, concurrently). You don't really need it to be part of the BOG AAS degree either, I would leave it out of the picture, have things less complex. The credits can be used for your future UMPI Bachelors if you're going that route. I would still try to send in the transcripts to Pierpont just in case it would accept these... I read your previous thread, are you no longer going the TESU route? Link:

Thanks for the reply, right now it’s up in the air. I’m still interested in nursing but I’m in between two states right now. Either way for the TESU and other accelerated bsn degrees an associates degree and or 60 credits is needed to get in. So I might as well get the associates as I can work as a medical assistant and have the upper hand with a degree in science under my belt.

My understanding is that Pierpont tends to follow the ACE recommendations pretty closely, so
you could expect to get 5 college credits for this certification.
I'm not sure that this would count toward a Biology AOS and I'm not sure whether a Health Careers or Health Sciences AOS is possible. If you need to get to 60 credits anyways, you would probably be better off just making sure you take enough Biology at Sophia and Study.com to cover the Biology AOS without this. You'll still be able to use it as elective credit, which you'll need.

Again, I would focus on getting a bulk of your Sophia.org classes completed, transferred to Pierpont BOG AAS, and also UMPI, you can get at least 90+ credits towards the both degrees. The NHA certification can be done concurrently and is icing on the cake... At Pierpont, you don't have to take any classes, you take 30 credits at UMPI, all excess credits will go towards the electives.

Will do. Thanks bjcheung77. I’m working on Sophia courses now and will definitely stack them up. I’m also doing some at study.com as well.

Just a piece of advice, I highly recommend NOT having two subscriptions at once (Sophia.org, Study.com or even StraigherLine), you want to do one at a time as they have monthly membership charges. Focusing on one provider is best and then laddering up to the next provider until you reach the point of completing the remaining at the institution you're going to graduate from.

Solid advice! I will go at it one at a time. Thank you!
