Pierpont BOG IS concentration to UMPI BAS with minors
#1
I see many people talk about the UMPI BAS though I'm curious if anyone has yet finished this type of degree or if there is any interest in doing this type of degree?

With TADA offering free certifications, it seems easier than ever to gather up the 40 technical credits needed for this degree.

Wow, you got the perfect degree plan for a UMPI BAS!

If you mind sharing your transcript (without your name), or how the courses came in for your 40 technical credits?  What UMPI minor did you do?

That should be enough info to complete a UMPI BAS degree plan for the wiki to help others that want to do a similar degree.

Edit: I've attached it as an excel sheet. I went with the MIS minor. With these credits transferred I needed to take 12 classes because I opted to take English Comp 1 / 2 and American Government at UMPI.

Let me know if you see any errors or have any suggestions.

You need to take 10 courses at UMPI
4 courses must in your minor  (2UL courses in MIS minor)
4 UL if you use the MIS minor (That brings your total to 18cr UL)
2 other courses, which could be English Comp I/II, American Govt for GE, or pick any course for electives.

Were all the TEEX courses you took free, and did they all go on Credly with no issues?

I am in the process of completing the BAS after a Pierpont BOG AAS with info systems and the BAS MIS, also.

I had many of the same certs and credits as nyjosh above, plus some local college credits and a few other certs. I had more than 60 hours in the same field, but not all are listed on my degree plan for the BAS. I assume it's simply because they were not needed. I asked for the BAS and explained my background in the field when I did so. I didn't get a response, but when my degree requirements came over, it was a form specific to the BAS and all my degree program info says BAS in Mainestreet.

Only these 44 hours are listed as the part that met the requirements for the BAS (plus the AAS from Pierpont):

Coursera - Google IT Professional Certificate (12 hours)
Coursera - Google Data Analytics Certificate (9 hours)
Coursera - IBM Data Analysis & Visualization Foundations Specialization (V2) (9 hours)
Coursera - AWIT Real-World Cloud Product Management Specialization (6 hours)
Local Community College Programming languages (8 hours)

I don't know what the magic courses or magic words + magic courses are, but in my field it will be a much better degree to have.

Great stuff, it's pretty much what I thought would work, the technical credits can come from the ASU 1 credit course for $25, in addition to the Sophia.org, TEEX, and the Coursera/TADA offerings. That's so awesome, if people can ladder from the Pierpont BOG AAS to the UMPI BAS with a MIS minor or whatever minor they choose in addition to that, they can/may get a BAS with prerequisite courses towards a Masters later down the road...

How hard are the Coursera - Google Data Analytics Certificate and Coursera - Google UX Design Certificate? How long did it take you to complete?

I want to get the other two Coursera Certificate.

I was able to complete the Coursera - Google IT Professional Certificate in 1 month.

I just signed up tonight for ASU Universal - CIS 194 Online Business Technology Fundamentals.

I have already taken these classes on Sophia Learning:

English Composition I
Visual Communications
Introduction to Nutrition
College Readiness
Workplace Communication
Developing Effective Teams
U.S. History I
College Algebra
Art History I

They all took me about the same amount of time. For me it was 1-2 weeks each. I could have gone faster if I had more time and motivation but I didn’t want to burn out. Pro tip, you can watch the videos at 1.5X to 2X speed which makes a lot of the slow talkers move at a much better pace!
