It's typically an intro course whether taken as an undergraduate course or in grad school so it's probably the same material for both anyway in most cases. For instance, lots of the courses available at Harvard Extension are available for credit as either undergraduate or graduate for the same course, you just pay more for graduate credit.
sanantone Wrote:Graduate courses are supposed to require more work, though. When I took a course with undergraduate students for my master's, I had longer papers and discussion posts to write.
This is also true of most or all HES courses available for either graduate or undergraduate credit: there are different grading rubrics with more work required for the graduate credit. It's not the same material (in work product expected, there may or may not be additional specifically assigned readings), you do not "just pay more" for graduate credit.

I sent an email to the registrar at Patten and she confirmed that SL's Org Behavior class will in fact be accepted as MBA-605 for graduate credit. I applied to Patten's MBA program and sent my TESC transcripts...even with the TESC BSBA degree, I had to prove a passing grade in microeconomics and college level math. Since I took micro with SL I had to send SL transcripts to Patten.

I concede that for graduate credit you, HES says the course "may have additional or different assignments and generally are required to perform at a higher level than students enrolled for undergraduate credit." However, they use the word "may" quite conspicuously and based on the information from their site and courses I looked at, the materials used are in fact the same.

In the HES syllabi I've seen recently for courses offered for graduate or undergraduate credit, there are by far most often different work requirements for graduate and undergraduate credit. Assigned, basic readings are often enough the same, but of course if you're doing, for instance, an additional 15-page graduate-level research paper you should be expected to draw on additional scholarly sources for that.
My sample is mostly from biology and psychology. It may vary by department. Where's your sample from? And while you say materials are the same, are assignments in the courses also the same?

+1
I've taken multiple HES courses that are open to both undergrad and grad (all were in fact) and there are always additional many writing/research assignments for grad students. I'll see if an can find an old syllabus.
EDIT: ha! No need, they've got them online Love this professor btw.

Update: The equivalency of the course has been changed. It is now just an upper level, undergraduate course.

sanantone was your last post confirming that Patten will not transfer Organizational Behavior into the Master program? Also, has there been a share on what 2 courses/ 6 credits are out there with a cost value transfer for Patten?

Talked with an advisor today and she double downed on this sanantone. Organizational Behavior will count towards undergraduate only. She did mention the power of just testing out of the Master's class since all of that knowledge was within me

Patten is competency-based, so you can skip the quizzes and assignments and go straight to the final exam and project.
