self paced study & Pell grant?

Are there any options for someone that wishes to utilize the Pell grant to cover the cost of some classes through a independent study format?

Pell will only pay toward a 4-year degree from a recognized school. It will not pay for testing though. If you do some online courses through a state school, it would likely be eligible.

Seems like CSU Pueblo will let me utilize the Pell through their Independent Study courses as long as I get admitted as a degree seeking student through their college, i don't know how that will work though since then i have to follow a traditional semester.
