Pell Grant???
#1
Hi,

If you receive a Pell Grant for $7,000,
But your college costs are say $4,000,
do you keep the extra $3,000 for Housing, and other expenses like computers?

THANK YOU!!!

Pretty much, it all depends on what your institution says, they do the allocation of funds.

You can, just be aware that if you use pell money on anything that is not a qualifying education expense, it is taxable income.

This was over 12 years ago, but when I attended Valencia College and the University of Florida every semester the Financial Aid office issued refunds to students. Meaning if tuition, books, fees, housing, etc was covered and there was left over money, students received the excess money as a refund.

If you aren’t sure, check with Fafsa or your school’s financial aid office.
