I've got like 20 requests for this thing right now in my email box, let alone the ones in my PM box and on this thread...I can't keep up. the 20mb file size is too large to do this in a reasonable time (upload = waaaaaay slower than download due to ISP). Does somebody have a web host they could post this to for me? I feel bad but I can't keep doing this indefinitely. Right now the computer that it's on is not even functional (was goofing around and divided by zero, so to speak).

I'm really sorry to everybody who has been kept waiting. I really hope we can find a better solution for this.

BEFORE taking each Straighterline Chapter Quiz, go to their online student learning center. http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/00...uiz_a.html

FIRST take the online multiple choice quiz that corresponds to the SL chapter and answer EVERY question. Next, PRINT OUT your online quiz results. If you have done this part correctly then a green check mark will appear next to the correct answer and a complete explanation for why the answer is correct will appear in bold, just below the answer. When you go to take the Straighterline chapter quiz, you will see the benefit of following this instruction.

In preperation for the (4) multi-chapter exams, have the book handy and be ready to utilize the GLOSSARY at the back of the book. Why the GLOSSARY? When a multiple choice question asks which answer is correct, 8 times out of 10, you can save yourself a lot of aggravation by heading straight to the glossary and looking up the definition of a particular term. If you were too cheap to buy the book, then utilize the online student learning center chapter glossary. You will have to go back and forth between chapters to find all of the glossary terms, but the end result should still be the same.

Utilizing these tips will prepare you to pass both Acct I and Acct II.

Buy the book that covers both Acct I and Acct II used (ISBN # 9780072996531) I paid $8.00 for one.

This definitely seems to be an effective strategy to pass SL's accounting courses. Since the courses are ACE recommended, there's no need for a proctored exam where you would not be able to use these techniques.

Focusing on use of the glossary during study is a great idea. I've studied for and passed several exams by learning the glossary and reading the end of chapter summaries. This is an effective way of studying for exams without having to read the entire text.

Just got done taking Accounting 1. Class took about 8 days total, with a 3 day break in the middle of it. I ended up getting an 86 overall. I did have some prior knowledge as I had studied for about a week for the CLEP before deciding just to take it on SL since the same textbook is used for Acct. 1 & 2. I would usually get done with the tests within 45 minutes (1 hour 15 minute for mid/final) and use the rest of the time to check answers.

Best advice I can give when taking this class is keep it simple.

- Follow the link to the quizzes and glossary items from earlier in this thread. I found I used the glossary a lot more than the actual quizzes.

- Print out every test for future reference. You never know when the same question will pop up later on.

- I also used an online ebook from coursesmart as my textbook. This proved invaluable as it was easy to reference the textbook while taking a test. This was a difference maker imo.

- The study guides for the exams seemed to be spot on for the most part. I went over each study guide and highlighted the answers in the text. This made for easier reference during a test.

- I also printed out my own credit/debit & Assets = Liability + Owner Equity flowchart table and posted it close to the computer to use for reference. This helped on a bunch of questions.

- Always check your answers, take your time, and make sure you're taking the test at a good time! I made a massive mistake of starting a test when I shouldn't have. As a result I had to literally click through the test and ended up paying for it. Needless to say, I made a B- on the mid, B+ on the final, and I missed 3 questions total out of 3 exams. So you can imagine what that one exam looked like to knock my score down to an 86.
