Hola!
This is my first post - but I've been scowering this forum for the past few weeks - as well as others, digging up all the information I can on ESU - as well as other online schools. I went ahead and submitted my application today after speaking with a couple of advisers. I decided to go there because of the financial aid deal, being that I'm a New York State resident - and they have an office in my city. I'm going for Graphic Design.
My adviser suggested that in a semester or two, since I'm doing a design major - I take a few classes at an area college to get classroom experience as well, perhaps at UBuffalo or URochester (I'm between the two cities). Has anybody else here done an online Graphics program with much success? Or have any experience to share about ESU?
One of my friends is attending University of Phenoix, and my husband is nervous that I'll also be attending a diploma mill - despite my research. How do the rest of you deal with family leery of the "online school" stigma?

ShotoJuku is not biased at all. LOL. Anyway, this is an even better school. College Education for Adults at Thomas Edison State College
I would recommend Excelsior over TESC to a New York student if they had in-state tuition, but they don't.

If someone needs a flexible school, Empire State College is a very good choice for a NY resident. I don't really understand why everyone seems bent on pushing OP away from ESC.

It's a fine school for a non-traditional student. I just think the people on this forum mostly prefer the extra flexible schools. Anyway, if I'm not mistaken, the Big 3 don't have graphic design programs.

What pushing......it's more like a gentle steering current!

ESC is definitely not a mill
I know a couple of NYC policeman who got their degrees distance learning through them.
ESC is part of SUNY
suny.edu - Our Campuses
credits from will transfer to any other SUNY school and will most likely transfer to any private school (Columbia, NYU)
