It's not fully enforced, similarly to the RA requirement.  Here's the full wording I had in another post: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid403784

I cannot find any documentation saying this is optional but rather a very serious oversight...

Board of Governors Associate in Applied Science  (College for West Virginia)

Quote:Admission Requirements:

Students are eligible for admission to the program two years after high school graduation. Students must not hold a degree from an accredited institution nor be enrolled simultaneously in another degree program.

This is a big problem and it needs to be addressed because anyone doing this is wasting everyone's time who does not have a degree by delaying their acceptance, review and receiving of their degree.

I'd say it's only a problem because you want it to be. The powers that be at Peirpont are more than capable of enforcing these restrictions to whatever standard they determine. Would I personally apply for a BOG AAS given that I have a bachelor's? No, because it has no value to me, and I think those folks have enough to do, but I also see no point in worrying if other people do.

How can it not be a problem for anyone following the rules as explicitly laid out on Pierpont's website and the WVHEPC? Anyone following the rules could be delayed admission, credit review and reception of their degrees because of people gaming the program.

I will contact both Pierpont and the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission to determine if this is an oversight or the admission policy is optional per institution (doubtful). I suspect it is an oversight and the admission process for the BOG AAS will need to be more stringent as it should.

I assume they want a cookie or gold sticker or something.  Even if they did waste their own time to report this, due to privacy issues, I highly doubt they'll get far unless they have personal information somehow.

So you are fine with flagrant violations of admission policies to academic programs? I am not and I also believe the 12 RA requirement should be enforced which is simple to do, simply require those credits have a letter grade from an RA school. The purpose of these forums should be for obtaining low cost degrees using alternative methods of credit not scamming programs.

Nah I want the program's cost to stay low and the degree to mean something. I don't want people exploiting oversights and abusing programs meant to actually help people who meet the admissions requirements. New members to these forums will not question anything but I have been reading these forums for over 10 years and know better. I am going to recommend they implement a policy for degree retraction if anyone violates the admission policy by failing to inform them of holding an existing degree.
