Newlane University - My experience so far

Basically, What other options have you looked at besides Newlane and UMPI?

Almost all of the online schools that I know accept Sophia. Last year, I was really into SNHU, but not so much anymore. After reading about others’ experiences and doing more research, I realized it’s just not the right fit for me. This is where my head is at: I tend to be impulsive, so I need to let the excitement settle before making a final decision. UMPI looks great, but I’m not willing to rush just to finish as fast as possible to save a few grand of the total spent. Honestly, in the end, I’d probably finish around the same time as I would at Newlane, and since Newlane costs $1,500 total, that’s $200 less than one term at UMPI. I’ll probably go with Newlane since it’s the most affordable option for me, and if things don’t work out, I can always give UMPI a go. But, who knows..? I probably should, soon.

Hey all, I finally got my transcripts evaluated. I was just being impatient. Like another poster said, it took about a week.

They accepted 90 credits (combo of uni and sophia). So, I only have to take 10 courses to finish my degree.

So far, I love the school's mission and the way they do things. It's basically the scenario where you just learn until you have mastered something, then move on. And they help you do that. You can take your time or go quickly. Loving it so far!

Yep, you were right. I got my transcript results back, and it took about a week. I was being impatient! lol They accepted 90 of my credits, so I'm not complaining!

Why not the other way around? UMPI first and if not a perfect fit, then change? I guess it really depends on what you have on your plate and the energy/time you have to complete the classes.

Or maybe just basic. From the little I understood it is possible they have developed it themselves, if that's true they probably didn't care about bells and whistles just basic functionality.

Is that so? Just watched some of their public youtube videos and it seemed to me from those that at least some of the youtube video courses are original.
Eg. for Algebra they seem to use same open source book as UoPeople (among others) does, yet they have hired own instructor who produced the video course...

Btw. for credit transfer they mentioned a week or so being standard time, in one of the videos.

I really like that price point they offer and It will just be another degree to add to my list. Smile. I take the courses one at a time, since its not a priority. However, its quite interesting how thier system works, they review questions with you and are super patient with you. 2 courses complete so far.
How do these end of course interviews work? I’m curious about that .

depends on the professor. They usually will ask the questions about the main topics. not so hard. more about the course goals. and maybe some further questions about the topic that not exist in materials, but if you study well, you could give a rough answer.
