New considering UMPI but….
#61
Thanks @ss20ts I had seen posts that the English comps take longer via Sophia due to the projects, think saw a post from rachel83az. I ve seen posts of people wanting to drop out of it. work full time and have 1.5 hr commute plus have family duties so my days are long. Only have some wknds or 5-8hrs to spare but trying to juggle.

I’ll think about it but if you think it’s faster to go via Sophia I’ll consider it

Eng Comp 1 is fine from Sophia. Instead of Eng Comp 2, take Workplace Writing 2 from Sophia. It transfers in as ENG121.

Thanks for the tip. I start July 1st. Will see if I have time to  squeeze it in!

Still debating between, if I go with the BLS + minor in psych, or just BA psych. Could the BLS+ minor in psych be faster to complete depending on the UL electives I choose... (ideally get the MAOL in the future)
1) BLS with minor in psychology or
2) BA in Psych

Does anyone know if there an acceleration option with UMPI? Just curious saw others using that terminology. Or it doesn’t matter since your working and learning on your own pace so it gives you that flexibility/option to adjust your working pace?!

All the psych classes take time as they have a decent amount of reading, research, and writing. I wouldn't say the BLS + psych minor would be any faster than the BA in Psych. It all depends on your goal with the degree.

There is no such thing as acceleration at UMPI. You move at your own pace thus the name YourPace. You can spend 3 weeks on a class or 8 weeks or 3 days. It takes you however long it takes you to complete the courses. The only thing is that you must submit you rough draft and final by the hard deadlines. There are no exceptions to those deadlines.

Due to timing (working and family jugging) and financial affordability, I am thinking i have to shift back to BLS minor in management but still considering BLS minor in Psych......apologies for the back and forth just get anxious and rethink things. I would love to jump into a BA psych but I dont have the bandwidth realistically. I get the sense this program takes 4-5terms, the most I can dedicate is 3, 1 would be amazing!

If I decided to do the BLS w. minor in Psych, would that help if I wanted to do a masters in psychology? no that I have to do a Master in Psychology but curious. Looking at the Walden Master program.

I am curious of what master programs anyone with a BLS  minor have pursued?

I am interested in a Psych Masters (Walden) but it's not a requirement. I can shift from Psych to Business, Creative Arts (my background has been in fashion graphic design/manufacturing tech innovation)
MAOL at UMPI
Purdue University Global: Psych or Business
LAPU: leadership or Psych

Leadership or psych

PS: For my GEC I saw that my Bio Lab only took 1 credit, i still need 3 for the lab/3E. from the GEC req, do I have to take all 3 sophia lab courses?

Take your time reviewing the entire thread again, going for any masters is within reach as long as you have the prerequisites, it doesn't require a BA Psych to get into a MS Psych or a BA Business/BAOL to get into a MBA or MAOL. I mentioned in many posts, you can do a minor at UMPI for the BLS, but that minor doesn't have enough Upper Level requirements, thus - adding a second minor and/or getting the 3-4 classes for the MAOL will work. In other words, you need the BLS Management & Psych to get the degree completed unless you're looking at random upper level credits (MAOL or something different).

Thanks for clarifying, I understand that it's not needed for the MS program to match the BA degree subject.

I do want to look into a 2nd minor option at UMPI.  So a BLS Management w/ Psych would be ideal. Sorry for dumb question how do the double minor and total credits work? 120 is the total, but if you do double minor does it go over like 134? (random number)

I saw other posts about getting enrolled into UL 3-4 classes for the MAOL when taking BLS..that is also a good option for me to consider.

You would take as many classes as needed to accomplish the minor. So yes, you would go over 120 and get some number like 134 (if thats how many it puts you over). They offer courses for the online psychology program, so doing the "Management w/ Psych" option is possible.

I see in the addendum that you're from NJ (greetings)! May I suggest possibly looking at TESU and using the "NJ College Promise" to pay for your college degree:

https://www.hesaa.org/Pages/NJCollegePromise.aspx

"New Jersey residents who attend a New Jersey four-year public institution of higher education and have an annual AGI between $0 and $65,000 will attend tuition-free during their third (60-89 credits) and fourth (90-128 credits) years of study, because the Garden State Guarantee provides a net price of $0 for tuition and fees during those years. Students in their third and fourth years at one of New Jersey’s four year public colleges or universities with AGIs between $65,001 and $80,000 will pay a discounted net price of no more than $7,500 for tuition and fees per year and those with AGIs between $80,001 and $100,000 will pay a discounted net price of no more than $10,000 for tuition and fees".

I would pay the cost of $99 for Sophia, do as many courses as you can to cover GEC req., and apply at TESU for the BA in Psychology:

https://www.tesu.edu/heavin/ba/psychology

Then, I would apply at UMPI for the MAOL. Or you could just do UMPI all the way through. Either choice isn't a bad option. Best of luck out there!

Wow ? thanks for all this information I will look into tesu and the nj education links, not sure I’ll qualify but I’ll check it out

is the format of learning different than UMPI, have exams that are proctored more than writing projects?

Basically, that's the reason you want to review posts #39 and onward from your thread... Review posts from me on #45 which you quoted on post #46 and more until you get to the end of this thread. TESU and UMPI practically is the same for the first 90 credits, it's the final credits or the "major" that has requirements that are different... Again, UMPI needs to have 30 credits residency, TESU requires 15 residency credits.
