New Member to . I would like to introduce Myself and say Thanks.

Hello INSTACERT ACADEMY Forums. Users, I am a new member to this site. I’m amazed all of the information I have learned from this site through the search feature. I have learned a lot actually, As far as ALEKS,FEMA,NFA,STRAIGHTERLINE,PENN FOSTER, THE BIG THREE Charter Oak, Thomas Edison , Excelsior. Wow, this site has taught me a lot in very little time. Thanks
Well, My name is Thiago. I am in the United States Navy, And I Want to get my degree Faster.I am pursuing my Degree from Embry Riddle. There is a lot of Credits that I can CLEP/DSST out of. Therefore on Google search, I found this amazing forum. I have took 1 Clep and 1 DSST. But I haven’t taken advantage of the free service, like I should have been taking.
I have a few Questions that the search feature couldn’t give me a personal answer to.
1. Fema Courses. Besides the credits that TESC gives you. Are there any Benefits to doing them ? I don’t need the credits for my Degree in Embry Riddle, But I Would like to know if these Classes Would help me out in Perhaps a job with FEMA if I Was to get out the Navy.

1. Aleks Courses- On average, How long does it take to complete one of the courses for College credit. I know this is a vague Question , But the reason I asked is because I need math and statistics. I would like to know if it is better of trying to study for the Clep the math and STAT courses . Or Go onto ALEKS And Complete The Courses. With that Being Said, I have To Email My Embry Riddle with The Acenet.edu link to see if the ALEKS is accepted by my school.

2. Paying member of this Forum- I would like to know if anyone would be able to lend an Opinion, If this Website is worth paying the $20 a month Fee. The reason I ask is because I already get free access through the DOD Petersons Practice test FOR CLEP/DSST and bunch of other random Petersons test. I also can get the REA Books from the library on base… But with that being said, I would like to know if it is worth paying the money for the access to the flashcards and exam specific areas or am I better of utilizing that money On other stuff (I.E. Aleks,)

I am looking forward to Chatting with you guys/gals via the forum. Feel Free to add to this discussion and lend advice ,I am all ears. I have updated my signature like most members have on this site, so that may help if anyone has any sugggestions..

What's up Thiago.. Glad you joined the site. This site will help you a lot in completing your degree quickly!

Aleks is valuable in my experience but it is a huge pain, and a lot of people would agree to that. But you can do a free trial to see if it works for you. I would adivse using it for prep to CLEP the Math at the very least. It's great practice.

I pay the $20 a month and it's helped me accumulate 24 credits in just three months. The information you will find here is invaluable!

Welcome,

This site and the people on it are great.
I have not taken any Aleks courses yet, but there are many ppl on here who have. Search 'Aleks' and you will get hits.
I pay $108 for 6 months, It is worth it. The specific feedback is the best.

Good Luck!!

I am surprised no one has chimed in here on the #1 reason it is well worth $20/month.

While you can study REA, Peterson's Practice tests and the additional text resources listed for every exam, what you will NOT get is Specific Exam Feedback from students who have taken exams. This thread is only available to paying members.

In general the Specific Exam Feedback ranges from general comments to all out study guides/notes of others who took the test and passed with those notes. For me, this information is invaluable because it helps you hone in on just what you need to understand for the exams. Also for me, I was in a time crunch (my own fault) so focusing in on specifically what was on the test and having detailed notes/study guides assisted me in meeting my timeline.

So: If you don't mind reading all the books/materials and aren't interested in a short cut and road map to the knowledge required for the exam, keep the $20. If you are interested in getting these tests out of the way and taking advantage of information provided by test takers, RUN, do not walk to pay the $20!

All the best!

:iagree:

I would not have been able to finish my degree in 9 months without IC. I like the IC cards and specific feedback forum. For most of my tests, I passed with a combination of IC cards + Specific Forum Feedback + Youtube lectures + Google. I rarely paid more money for any other references and when I did, I only did so after reading the Specific Feedback when several people recommended a certain book, or in the case of Business Law II, when there were no IC cards, I used the feedback + recommended books.

This has been my experience and I don't think that there is a single study method that works the same way for everyone, but this combination worked for me!

I agree too. The specific exam feedback is worth the price.

As far as Aleks goes it depends on you and your learning style. I found it fine for intro & intermed. algelbra but it took me over 100 hours for Stat. You should tryit free and see how you like it.

Taking a CLEP without InstantCert Specific Feedback is like going to war without advance intel.
