dcan Wrote:Can you explain this a bit more? I thought regional accreditation was the gold standard regardless. What about post-grad work? Does it matter then? I would assume it would if you wanted to do anything at all post-grad, because then if you have an NA grad degree you would be basically locked into another NA whereas with an RA grad degree you could probably go either way.

Or did I miss something? I don't know much about grad and post-grad so this is all new to me. Thanks.

I don't think you missed anything. RA is absolutely the gold standard. For some specific jobs (ie. CPA or school teacher) you are required to have an RA undergrad. In my opinion, even if you are in a field thatdoesn't require it (general business) I'm still in the RA camp- reason is, that sometimes you want to attend grad school or change fields, and then you're stuck. If you are in a field that doesn't require it and you are toying with a grad degree, then do whatever fits in with your plan. MANY MANY MANY fields absolutely accept NA degrees, it's the handful of careers and those who are still working on undergrad degrees that should stick with RA.

I did my good deed for today. I had one of my Soldiers transferred to AMU. She had 33 SH through Columbia Southern Univ. and she found out the hard way that they would not transfer because of their National Accredidation to any of the RA schools she was looking at. AMU took all but 3 credits since they are both RA/NA, now she can graduate with a RA degree. :coolgleam:

FWIW, that's my FAVORITE thing about AMU, even if that's a kinda lame thing to have as a favorite. But they really own the NA/RA market.
