New COSC policy for ACE and NCCRS providers

This is a horrible development, especially for those who may already be working on a plan to graduate from COSC.
I assume even CLEP exams fall within this requirement. Would they count TECEP and UExcel exams as regionally accredited courses?

TECEP and UExcel wouldn't count as regionally accredited, but don't count as course providers. It's just credit by exam. So I'd say 90 Study, Straighterline, Sophia, .... + 30 TECEP/CLEP. Or TESU, if they don't follow soon.

You are correct. I should've said CLEP. It doesn't matter as they apparently count it against you either way.

The only hope is that those who enroll before July 1st will be grandfathered in under the current system. I had plan on starting on June 22nd and now I’m wondering if I should try for May instead.

So you could transfer in 30 regionally accredited credits (community college, dual enrollment, other university credits), plus up to 90 credits from ACE/NCCRS providers, plus cornerstone, capstone?

Also, note wording "unless agreement exists." Does that rule out TEEX, CSM, the Institutes? Study.com, Sophia, Straighterline have agreements. Are there others that have agreements?

Really surprised at the change in terms of Charter Oak being usually the follower. 

Maybe that residency waiver at TESU isn't so bad after all?

As I said in another post you only have to transfer in 24 because 6 come for COSC.

I wonder if TECEPs or UExcels would work? I don't see why not because they come a regionally accredited school.

U have to take 24credits worth of classes, u cant test out - confirmed

The grandfathering is straight forward. Anything not on your transcript july 1st will not count

Hello all,

It does look like the Big 3 is now down to the Big 2. Does anyone think that this may spread to the other 2? Or that this could be one of TESU's policy change announcements come June/July? Looks like I may need to apply to TESU much sooner than expected to try to lock in the current catalog.

It isn't unlikely the others will follow.
The leader of change usually is TESU, with COSC and EC (little information) following.
This change is not that much of a surprise for the "agreement only"-part, TESU was the first with that one. However the 90 max makes it a Big 2 really. Still there are new possibilities also, it just takes more time and money: maybe ASU 10 courses $100 is enough to get this done at COSC anyway. Try finishing up ASAP, although this seems problematic w/ the current amount of Sophia students.

You only need to do 8 courses. 2 courses are at COSC. And I don't if 8 courses are possible at ASU for $100 anyways, a lot don't start until after the deadline for $100 is up. But you could try just remember you have to get them done by August 17th or it's $400.


I agree with the whole Sophia thing, I hope it isn't going to cause problems if everyone suddenly transfers in a bunch of Sophia credit.
