Need help/advice

Could I do the PLA assessment review towards new credits? I could do the PLA assessment for 12 credits. Then do the remaining 12 credits via Starighterline/CBE/CLEP?

And since I got my first Bachelors at a brick and mortar university does this void the residency requirement?

When we say residency, we mean the credits that have to be earned at the college regardless of mode (online, on ground, and sometimes challenge exam). TESU's degrees don't have a residency requirement, but their certificates do.

Portfolio assessment credits can count toward residency and the 24 new credits.

The per-credit tuition plan at TESU has a residency requirement though. The other two tuition plans have no residency, but you have to pay more money. If you are per-credit, you need 24 credits via TECEP, TESU PLA, or TESU courses. The credits to satisfy residency might also count towards the 24 new credits if they are in the AOS.

Edit to add: Why not just take exams for AOS courses you've already taken instead of PLA? Your PLA plan sounds like a lot more work. If I was choosing between an actual TESU class and PLA, I would choose PLA. But test vs. PLA?

Curiously I was always thinking of pursuing a certificate in Marketing from TESU, can any one tell me how much that would cost?

How about the Marketing Management Certificate from Harvard Extension School ($9600) or the Marketing Strategy Certificate online from Cornell ($3600)?
I don't know what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future.

I was thinking from TESU. As in the school referred to in this post.

TESU requires 18 credits for the marketing certificate, 9 can usually be transferred in, the other 9 can be completed by TECEP.
If you are not a current student I think there is an application fee $75, then the 3 TECEPS @ 111 each, then you can probably complete the remaining 9 credits by transfer. TESU changes their policies occasionally but in the past there was no graduation fee for certificate programs.

mccatm Wrote:I have a Bachelors in Applied Science and a MBA, both from accredited universities. I want a BS in Accounting from TESC, but TESC requires 24 new credits for a second degree. When I transfer my credits from my BS and MBA they almost cover all the courses except for 3 accounting courses. But then I need 21 more "new" credits in business/area of study. I don't want to re-take courses I have already taken. What should I do?

And for those wondering, I am in the accounting industry. And most employers for job advancement require a BS in Accounting. This is why I want to pursue this new degree, to help me grow in my career.

TESU also has a BSBA with accounting/CPA area of study that requires more accounting courses, maybe this gets you closer? Will a Master's in Accountancy work?

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

I would choose the PLA portfolio assessment because the cost for 12 credits is 379. And I have already taken the PLA 100 & 200 at Saylor and Kaplan, so I can skip the TESC PLA course.
