It’s like regular engineering, but instead of bridges, they build complicated ways to make (or lose) money like crypto, call options, hedging, shorting, DeFi, etc.
This just sounds like data science.

Yes, that's exactly what it is, but data analytics or data science for the 'finance' sector...

This firefighter must really be under a rock, because I've never even heard of "data science"... let alone finance engineering.

Yes, ChatGPT did a pretty good job, most people start off as Business Intelligence Analyst and work their way up. This is one of the reasons I got the ENEB Big Data/BI, just to get some extra gaps filled for knowledge, management, strategy, etc within that sector. For a free degree, it's a very good option for those who can get in, it's one that can't be accelerated though.

So for someone who knows nothing but is pretty good at self-studying, would this degree be at all worth it? Or is it one of those where you have to already be working in the field for it to be worth anything?
Complete: 1) Trade school - Hospitality, Bartending. 2) Swedish BA - Japanese. 3) ENEB MA - Hotel, Project Management, MBA. 4) JLPT N1, 120-hour TEFL, TISUS, substitute teacher license
In Progress: 1) WGU MA - Education for teacher licensure. 2) Mastercurssos MA - Child Development.
My ENEB ambassador/affiliate links: MBA + Masters or 2 Masters, & 1 Master's or 1 MBA.
