I'm surprised to hear that there are enough Psychology tests out there for the TESC degree, but that's good to know.

So far, it looks like we have:
Liberal arts Psychology Business Sociology History Criminal Justice Not a bad list to choose from. Am I missing any here? Regarding the math question, I'm about six hours into ALEKS and really liking it. I bet my dh will too. This thread does make me wonder if I should switch from COSC to TESC for my BS. I've already spent the $$ to matriculate this year, but if I can't complete everything including capstone by June 6, I will have to pay again. Is the degree from TESC a true BA/BS in Psych or is it a concentration like COSC?

It's a "true" major, not a concentration, although to be honest with you that's a matter of semantics.

When you apply for a job with a BS with a concentration in Psychology, do you just put BS, Psychology on your resume or do you have to put BS Liberal Studies, concentration Psych? That might make a difference if someone sees a Liberal Studies degree as less focused. Thoughts?

Here's a possible roadmap for TESC History (assuming they will allow a substitution for US History 100 level courses with other US History courses):
CLEP Western Civ 6 credits L (2 permitted 100 level courses) DSST Vietnam War 3 U Soviet Union 3 U Modern Middle East 3 U Europe since 1945 3 L Civil War 3 L Ohio U Ancient Egypt 2.67 U Ancient Greece 2.67 U Ancient Rome 2.67 U History of American Journalism 2.67 U History of the African American Worker 2.67 U The latter two aren't found under the list of history courses so you would have to check with TESC, but given their titles they might be acceptable as history electives. In place of the latter two listed under Ohio U, maybe these would work: UNC Distance Education at UNC: Self-paced Courses: History These are self-paced correspondence courses but you can bypass the classwork and simply take the final if you wish. History of American Business 3 U North Carolina History since 1865 3U The UNC option might be prohibitively expensive for non-NC residents, though. The ECE American Dream might also work for 6 UL credits.

My concentration is Psych and according to my degree plan (matriculated before COSC changed the UL requirements on 7/1/2009) I will only have to take one class, which is the capstone. I will post my roadmap shortly. If a degree can be obtained mostly by testing, then I was going to include it on the list. Of course, "mostly testing" hasn't really been defined. I would think it to mean no more than two maybe three classes at most.

TESC business is doable, although perhaps not for all concentrations, e.g., accounting.
I was under the impression that you still needed 15 UL credits in the Psych concentration at COSC even if you enrolled prior to that date but would be exempt from the capstone requirement. Is it actually possible to test out of 12 UL credits since you can get 3 for a suitable score on the Psych GRE?

Here is my degree plan, but keep in mind that anyone new to COSC will need to modify to meet the new 30 credit UL requirement. I BARELY squeeked in under the old requirements.
Below is my plan, I've listed the requirement first followed by testing method and then the # of credits that the test will give you. General Education Requirements Literature and Fine Arts, required 3 - can be met w/CLEP Humanities for 6 credits Social/Behavioral Science, required 3 - can be met w/CLEP introductory Sociology for 3 credits Ethical Decision making, required 3, can be met w/DSST Business Ethics and Society Information Literacy - will be fufilled automatically upon completion of Capstone course Communication (Written), required 6, can be met w/CLEP English Comp with essay for 6 credits U.S. History/Govt, required 3, can be met w/CLEP US History I for 3 credits Non-US History or Culture, required 3, can be met w/Spanish 1 for 6 credits (Sorry - this is my degree plan with my foreign language skills in mind, I'm sure that someone else could easily find something to match here) Global Understanding, required 3, can be met w/DSST Intro to World Religions for 3 credits Mathematics, required 3, Can be met w/CLEP or ALEKS College Algebra for 3 credits Natural Science, required 6, can be met with CLEP Biology for 6 credits Concentration Plan Research Methods, required 3, can be met with ECE Methods of Research in Psych TWO Courses or exams from the following: Cognition, Perception, psychobiology, learning and memory; experimental; developmental, systems theory/history -I know that CLEP Human Growth and Development will count towards one of these, I still need to figure out the other one. Choose one course/exam from the following: Counseling*; Social Psychology; Personality*; Clinical/Abnormal*; Community/Mental Health - I will be doing the ECE test Abnormal psychology to meet this requirement 21 psychology elective credits are also required - 18 of these credits can be met with the GRE, but I doubt I'll do that. I am probably going to use a combination of the following tests, keeping in mind that I already have psych 101 under my belt. Educational Psychology - CLEP Social Psychology - ECE Psych of Adulthood & Aging ECE Fundamentals of Counseling DSST Substance Abuse DSST Plus one more if I don't take the GRE.. CAPSTONE I am not including the free electives as I really think that each person needs to look at what most interests them, as long as they make sure that they meet the minimum liberal arts credits. I also sent an email to my counselor yesterday asking about FEMA credits and how they fit in. I can update once I hear back to see how many FEMA's they'll take and whether they count as liberal arts or not. I have no idea if this even makes sense as it looks much better in spreadsheet format. If anyone wants the spreadsheet, PM me.

I believe that even without the GRE, I can get all my UL psych credits through testing. I have a PDF of which tests count for UL/LL credit but I couldn't upload it as it exceeded the size limits. Should be on COSC's website somewhere..
