Hi All...
I've been reading through the recommended text for the UExcel/EC's Research Methods in Psychology exam - and am completely overwhelmed:willynilly:. For anyone who has taken this exam - how math intensive is it, and if you've taken other EC Psych exams, how difficult did you find it in comparison?
I am the world's biggest math-o-phobe:ack: so anything that even mentions statistics, etc. has me running for the hills...I haven't signed up for the IC flashcards yet - do the flashcards simplify the material?
Thanks so much!

My test had only a few percent ranges for you to decide if the null hypotheses is true or scenarios to determine whether it is a type I error: rejection of a null hypothesis that is true or a type II error: not rejecting a null hypothesis that is false. Those were the main questions on my test that contained math. Most questions addressed sampling, variables, and research methods. The exam is just like the content guide very little math.
ECE Social Psychology and ECE Research Methods in Psychology were similar exams. You will do just fine.

alram is right. The math was a very small part of the test. You shouldn't worry. I was thinking the same way and was pleasantly surprised by the test. Good Luck!!

Thanks alram and dhillbilly, I'll sign up for the IC flashcards and see how it goes...trying to read through the textbook has got me in a state of :willynilly:...
The research portion of all the psych tests has always been my big weak spot, so my confidence level with this subject is already a few degrees below:ack: - the addition of :ack: M-A-T-H...YIKES!

Reviving this thread (hopefully). DD is thinking about taking this class. Has anyone taken it recently? It looks like there are two options (8 and 15 weeks). Has anyone done 8 weeks? That seems like it would be tough, but just wondering what others have experienced (with either the 8 week or the 15 week option).

why would you want to take the class if you could just do the UExcel?

Let me rephrase. We are wondering about the information (generally) covered in the test. How much math? Working in R? She has had some exposure to Quantitative Analysis at the college level (Pol Sci), but while she got the general idea and can work in R, she did not feel that her level of knowledge was where she needed it to be in order to do well.
