I just finished class #11, and at times, it has taken longer for my rough drafts to be reviewed and returned by the instructor than it has taken me to do the material for the entire class. It's unfortunate because you are completely at their mercy, and you cannot move on to complete the class until this process is completed. The rule is they should be reviewed within 72 hours; however, in my experience, that has been the minority. Several of my drafts have been in review status for over a week, which is precious time ticking away, and there is nothing you can do about it. I would send emails after the 72-hour mark but didn't seem to do much. Then once you get a response on the draft and fix anything suggested and resubmit, you have to wait for another 72 hour period (or more) for the final to be graded and get a notification that the competency is complete (provided it is not multiple choice). That has been my biggest frustration. I also wonder if it's because it's the summer session and not the regular school session if the instructors are on summer break and not checking things as much?? Otherwise, the platform has been pretty decent—best of luck to you in knocking out as many as you can per term. I'm on a time crunch, and I completely understand the need to try and get as many classes per session.  Shy

That was NOT my experience at all! When I submitted a rough draft I contacted my advisor and said I needed a class opened. I always had 2 open until the last 10 days. The classes with an exam I would tell my advisor I was taking the exam that day and to open my next class. I didn't wait at all.
I believe the difference may be in the major. My problem classes as far as waiting have been in accounting. Each class is builds upon the next, and I had to know I had my final assessments correct before I could tackle the next class. I was able to get the new classes added once I submitted the draft, but I was still held up waiting for the assessment feedback of the previous class to make sure I was on the right track. I also ran into an issue last session where I had 4 classes left and none were being offered, resulting in having to wait. There are many different ways things can play out depending on the situation for each individual person. If you have not experienced any of this that is great news and I’m so jealous! Smile

This is when you take an elective, GEC course, or other business course. Fill up that time! Planning ahead to when each class is offered is HUGE. Your advisor should have a sheet they can give you that will show the classes for the year. I know the sheet is for fall and and spring. They will know what will be offered for those 4 terms. Starting in the summer is a tad iffy at many schools.

The only delays I had holding me up was my own farting around. LOL

I already have a bachelors in business and due to UMPI taking the maximum amount of transfer credits, I basically had only accounting classes and a couple business classes left to take to finish BA in accounting. So, there weren’t any extra classes I needed to fill up the time. It’s just been those darn accounting classes pumping the breaks on me at every corner.

You can take extra classes that aren't required for your degree. You can also add on a minor or concentration, too.

I don’t like taking classes enough to take extras that I don’t need, lol! Smile

Congratulations on making a decision. Some tips to go on what people are saying here:

1) When you submit your ROUGH DRAFT for a class, ASK JESSICA for a new class to start work on it ASAP.
2) Don't be afraid to ask Jessica to give you a multiple choice class exam versus an essay class so you can take "breaks" from your other class.
3) A good rule of thumb is to try to have 2 classes active at all times.

If you intend on grad school at UMPI ... DO NOT TRANSFER THE FOLLOWING IN:
BUS 335 Organizational Behavior, this will double as OLS 550
BUS 440 Business Analytics, this will double as OLS 610
BUS 469 Strategic Professional Communication, this will double as OLS 620

Yeah... That's right, THREE of my undergrad classes transferred into my GRAD masters degree.

FYI To others I did not do the BLS, ss20ts did 3 BLS and can speak better on those. I did the BABA Management & Leadership.

Wow, that sounds so much like a "Bachelors to Masters" option in the making... Hmm, I wonder if it would be a max of only 3 out of 12 (25%) of the program. OR if they have an option to take different courses besides these three mentioned. UMPI is making ground on CBE programs and this would be a "starting point" or progress point, I am so glad they first updated their 30 ACE credits and bumped that up to 90 ACE credits. That was the major turning point for them...

Yeah! SS20ts has shared the new 2025 plan (you can google it too UMPI 2025 Strategic Plan) with me... They're ready to CONQUER the CBE market. They're going all out. They're fully accredited, public, state university. They have the backing of one of the largest online state universities already (University of Maine, no title, just the regular University of Maine in Orono). They're getting ready to take things by storm. The former DIRECTOR of CBE got promoted to be the VICE CHANNCELOR OF ALL OF UNIVERSITY OF MAINE! Huge grounds. She is passionate about CBE learning, the President of the University is passionate about it. The chancellor of Maine is passionate about it.

They're swinging heavy hits and they're ready to become a dominant university.

University of Maine at Presque Isle only has 1100 students! They're so tiny still, they're going to grow rapidly at this pace! Their endowment is only 5 million US.

The Bachelors to Masters, I asked about it about six months ago, they told me it's an interesting idea and there's no plan for it. But I got an email a few weeks ago and they said they're going to give me those OLS credits :O So this swung me from 25% done to 50% done with my entire masters! :O

They're not limited to 90 ACE credits anymore as well. You can transfer in unlimited as long as you do 30 credits from them. So you can transfer in everything for like a History Degree and a Business degree, and do 10 electives with them for both degrees electives, and bam, you qualified for both.

I'm actually considering going back after my MAOL and add supply chain management or history tbh. To see if in the future they'd be friendlier to returning alumni.

They've already become a dominant university here! I hope this extends far beyond us, though, because they sound like an awesome school.

I'm looking for a slight change to their offerings, instead of having the BAS or BLS being terminal degrees, allow that to be a first degree. And allow them to earn a second degree later on if needed. Some people are only looking for a "generic degree" as a "check the box". By limiting people to one degree at UMPI just because it's deemed a terminal degree, would be limiting to their school. I mean, you're turning people away who would be taking a second degree at your school... that's $$!
