see https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...stitutions

It is legit, but state accreditation institute on Malta "suffers from some problems" eg. https://theshiftnews.com/2024/11/28/high...embership/ and for some purposes such degree is not usable even if EU accredited, for example its use in Germany might be limited. (German ANABIN only recognizes degrees from Maltese universities, not from Maltese higher education institutes).

I was thinking about it too though I am far from decision time, the trouble is name of those institutes, I understand they want sound like the next big thing (and also overcome the problem that they can't use university in the name) - Neovarsity, Neoversity, Innovarsity, but I don't share the excitement and it sounds more lika scammy name, or gomycode - sounds like a good name for kindergarden uni at best, like a name of a random coding bootcamp. Might play a role for some degree use cases...

Also, there is no Woolf University. There is only Woolf. Woolf is something like institute of higher education, they cannot describe themselves as university. Their accreditation is currrentlly only valid until March 2025 - one more month.

Finally, there is no EU accreditation. If degree is accredited in EU country, by state accreditation agency, it is usually granted that it is recognized everywhere in EU. Except edge cases like above...and other exceptions...

So it's kinda useful but kinda a scam depending on how/why you want it

it's definitely not a scam. it's not the fault of the institution if their respective government accreditation body has a bad standing. (most) institutions undergo a thorough accreditation process on the basis of good faith. but I agree with Tomas - a funky name and squeezed in "university" denotation in the domain to pretend as if, raises doubts....

not scam by any means, if you will get Masters title, you can legally use it anywhere, it is state approved education
but it has those aspects mentioned,....
it is probably not an accident that there is a number of higher education institutes recently opened on small Malta... on the other hand, when they were about to approve the only new university (not institute) some time ago, I believe they hired people from Clemson University to also participate in accreditation process
as you wrote, it depends on why you want that degree

I liked Ambrose College, Amsterdam Tech, names like that that don't start conversations. But I'd rather not have to explain why I have studied at AlmaBetter Innovarsity in India that is accredited on Malta by a US founder who just found Malta friendly and that it is a real college. So the more rough edges they will cut the better... Just checked and gomycode is now GMC School of Technology, that sounds good.

I have skimmed some offers quickly in the past and it seems for CS they have same syllabus even same coding projects, no matter at which Woolff college you study, and it is fairly modern and practically oriented. My other favorite on Malta besides Woolff is OPIT, Open Institute of Technology.

A year or more ago, someone had pointed out that that Woolf's Postgraduate Certificate in Computer Science is currently listed at $0 in tuition fees.

At the time, nobody was willing to try it. However, if you're already considering Woolf AND you want to get into something IT or CS-related, it might not hurt to at least apply for the PGCCS and see where it takes you. If it's actually free, you might have a solid pathway beyond, whether at Woolf or elsewhere. Food for thought!

Their main focus seems to be CS, and I wonder if anyone has ever enrolled in the other degree offered, the MBA program, at all.

Their MSc in Computer Science is quite affordable, but the MBA is unbelievably expensive (USD 20,000+).

If it is indeed free, there is the potential that the credits may transfer to certain universities in the EU. If not, it is at least a good test run for those interested in the CS degree.

I am studying at Woolf.

Wolf is a legitimate and fully accredited educational institution, and its degrees are recognized worldwide. You can read more about it here:
https://woolf.university/degree-mobility...mmigration

In the USA, for example, its degrees are considered equivalent to a regionally accredited master's degree.

I understand that there may be challenges in Germany regarding the recognition of certain degrees. This is related to specific national practices. For instance, diplomas from TESU, which is regionally accredited in the USA, are not recognized in Germany.
